Doing what: Salzburg Small Group Day Tour from Munich

This trip was great value for money considering the price of a return train ticket from Munich to Salzburg. Add to this the services of a very knowledgable and professional guide and the beauty of Salzburg and you get a trip well worth taking. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Munich.

Guide was amazing - well organised, full of facts and info. Salzburg was fantastic. Used the same company for many other Munich tours. Highly recommended.

Our guide, was excellent as he ushered us, first by train then by bus, from Munich to Salzburg. His knowledge of Salzburg was great. The day was set up perfectly to give us an introduction to the city, then give us time to explore on our own. Our guide was very pleasant and really made the day! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Doing what: Salzburg and Lake District Day Tour from Munich

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Salzburg is a lovely place, and I would LOVE to go back there next time I'm in Munich. We went in November when it was a bit cold; I can only imagine what this area looks like in the spring and summer! I highly recommend this tour.

I booked this tour originally because it was one of the only tours operating out of Munich in late March. I didn't really have any expectations for it. Now, though, I am so glad that we went. The tour was fabulous. Our guide was very informative and showed us all the highlights of Salzburg. The city is beautiful and very much worth the trip, even if you're not a Mozart or Sound of Music fan.

Doing what: Salzburg and Lake District Day Tour from Munich

Hertie's is a great meeting place because it's so central. I went on the trip with my fifteen year old son and it was fantastic! The coach was very comfortable and our guide was friendly and yet informative. Salzburg was a magical place and we had plenty of time there before moving on to Lake Wolgangsee. We managed to hire a little motor boat for half an hour while others waited for the ferry to cross the lake. Songs from the Sound of Music were playing in the background on the crossing and the sun shone, it was 28 degrees Celcius all day!

The return journey to Munich was a bit slow due to holiday traffic but we arrived back in good time to enjoy an evening meal in the city centre. Our guiude kept all 70 guests on the trip amused with her anecdotal stories and we learned loads about the German way of life, historical myths handed down through the ages. This was my first Viator trip and I was very impressed by the slick operation and friendly attitude of the whole day. Thank you. I would highly recommend this trip and am looking forward to booking another one soon. Superb value for money!

Doing what: Salzburg and Lake District Day Tour from Munich

This is an excellent day trip from Munich. Salzburg was wall-to-wall with tourists, but is well worth a visit. The afternoon portion of the tour to the Austrian mountain lake district was a real highlight. This is excellent value for the money, as are all of Viator's trips in Munich. A great way to sightsee.

Great day trip from Munich, train trip was great passing through some of the most scenic views I have seen.
Our tour guide was so good and really knew her stuff and the town of Salzburg was perfect.
Return train trip was a good way to end a great day especially with a few beers to relax with.

This is the perfect side trip if you are in Munich. It is a full day from getting to the train station to the relaxing ride back. Salzburg is a beautiful fairy tale city and the tour is a good mix of information and free time. Alun was a terrific guide and very helpful with suggestions on how to spend your free time. It is such a beautiful city, all my photos look like postcards!

On our last visit to Munich we took a trip to Salzburg with another company. The tour we booked through you was three times better. Our guide Yolanda showed us so many sites that we did not even know were there with the other company. We also had plenty of time to explore on our own once Yolanda oriented us to the city. Highly recommend this trip.

A very nice trip - my wife and I enjoyed it much more than the castles trip. However, I wish the guide had given us more historical details; she seemed to know a lot already. We decided to pay the extra money for the guide, but if you don't want to, you can get a Land ticket from Munich good for Salzburg as well and that will save you some money.

Great day trip from Munich, lovely city with plenty to see and do! The guided tour when we first arrived in Salzburg wasnt that great though, it was really hot day, and the tour leader had a thing for standing in the sun to talk about the history etc! Otherwise definately recommend.

Had a nice train ride to Salzburg. Quiet and comfortable. The city was fantastic. The old part of the city was beautiful with wonderful shops and historic buildings. Salzburg is a 'must see' if in the area. Our guide did a wonderful job walking us through the important parts of the city, and my wife and I were pleased to have additional time to wander on our own. All the tour arrangements were well done. The only problem was the return trip to Munich. Our guide decided to have several beers with two members of the tour. They overindulged and spent considerable time insulting the customs and mannerisms of Germans. English is widely spoken and the Germans on the train were subjected to demeaning insults. It was evident they understood everything that was said. Our guide, who was sitting and drinking with the tour members, should have known better and excused himself to sit elsewhere in the car. His behavior was immature, at best. It was a real embarrassment.

Salzbburg is a place well worth visiting! I visited the places where The Sound of Music was filmed, and also where Mozart was born and lived. You must visit the old Fort Hohensalzburg built in 1077 which oversees Salzburg. You can take great panoramic views from up there. Old World charm at its best! The train ride there isn't that long from Munich, and was very comfortable and had air conditioning. The other train back to Munich did not. It was hot and not as comfortable! Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
