Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Awesome!!! We took this tour from Rome, about a 3 hr bus ride. It was definitely worth every hr to get there!! The guides were great. Pompeii is a must see. It was so cool to be able to see all the relics and excavations. Plus hiking Mt Vesuvius is a once in a lifetime. Beautiful views from the top. You can see the volcanos crater and the cape of Naples. Worth every $$!

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
The tour guides were very informative and it was challenging to hike up to the Vesuvius Volcano but what fun we had. The Pompei ruins from the Roman days were really neat to see and again our tour guide there provided us with a lot of history. Thank You for an awesome day.

Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
Although the Pompeii trip was interesting, we were disappointed to have 2 French speakers in our group of 15 English speaker. The tour guide took alot of extra time to translate into French and then was rushed and irritated when we tried to ask questions. The guide was well informed but a lot of time was spent waiting for her to speak to the French speakers. We were VERY disappointed in the Mt. Vesuvius trip. Our guide did nothing but ride with us, not even explaining what we were seeing as we went. At the volcano, she sat in the van and waited for us - very little info. In fact, we found a guide at the top who was waiting for his group, and he was so helpful in showing us pictures and explaining what happened and what we were seeing. I say take a taxi to the volcano and hire a guide when you get there. OK trip, but not real impressed with the guides.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Our tour guides were very knowledgeable. Pompeii was really incredible! I had no expectations on Pompeii, and it is just so impressive. We also climbed Mount Vesuvius. Never thought that I would be climbing a volcano when I went to Italy and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. However, if you go - be sure to take the walking stick.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
The trip was amazing. I would have liked more time in Pompeii to explore by myself (although the guide was extremely good). It wasn't Viator's fault, but having to walk from the bus to the car park at Vesuvius meant we had less time to climb the volcano and less time admiring the amazing view. The tour itself was amazing tho and I would really recommend it to anyone who wants to do one.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
It was my first time in Italy and I was really glad I did this tour. It was amazing!! Climbing up Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano, was definitely one of the best parts of the trip. Shannon was our guide that day and she is awesome and knowledgeable!
I wasn't so fond of the restaurant. My Bianca pizza was horrible and it gave me a stomach ache (this is the reason why I rate it 4.5/5). Otherwise I definitely recommend this tour to everyone!

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
There were two buses, two guides, and we got the less experienced guide. The other guide was chock full of interesting tidbits even before we boarded the bus, so I can only imagine how much we missed. Personally, I would not go on the Vesuvius part of this trip again. The payoff of looking down at a crater is just not commensurate with the task of hiking up the volcano. It's much better seen from a distance, especially if you are on vacation and cannot really afford to be extra tired, seeing as there are still several days worth of sightseeing in store. The poor, harassed driver (he had to reverse down the hillside road earlier) cleaned all our mucked-up shoes with compressed air, one person at a time. Give that guy a raise. We got another guide, Enzo, for the Pompeii tour and he is a polished professional who thoroughly enjoys his subject. He deserves top marks for his obvious interest and humor, and for leading us through the tour at a just-right pace. This is my second Dark Rome tour and so far the company is firing on all cylinders. Overall: Vesuvius and achy muscles afterwards get one star. Pompeii and Enzo get 5 stars. Dark Rome gets 5 stars.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Trip was fantastic. Pompeii was very interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Vesuvius provides great views for photos both of the volcano and the views of the city. Make sure you take lots of water with you if the weather is hot.

Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
Pompei trip was great and the guide Andrei did a wonderfull job! We enjoyed the trip and recommend it. The only thing we would have liked was a bit more time for the vesuvius visit. We walked up and had to hurry back to visit the volcano in the given timeslot. An extra 1/2hour over there would be great.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
The trip was excellent and our guides were informative and a lot of fun too! We unfortunately missed (our fault) our first scheduled tour, however one quick phone call and Viator rescheduled us for the next available tour (a booking fee was applied). I would recommend this tour, however if you are more of a thrill seeker there is an alternative Vesuvius climb that takes you around the very edge of the volcano opening -this was not available via Dark Rome or Viator, just something we noticed when we were at the site. The only down side to our tour was how late we arrived back to Rome, this was more due to traffic congestion than the tour itself.

Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
Our trip to pompeii, and our guide "Andi", was very interesting and entertaining... He made sure to interact with everyone, and make you feel like you were part of the tour, and not just observing... He pointed out ordinary over-look-able items in the ruins, and brought them to life with stories and explanations which were both comical and relevant...
To be honest, we found the Vesuvius section of the tour was rushed and dissapointing...
Our guide was switched to "Maria" who took us for lunch, then pointed out a few things in the bus, but did not join the group to go up to the crater, so there was no information about the volcano, its eruptions, history etc... it was basically a shuttle-service to the crater trail, and "meet you back here in 1 hour..." I expected more of a guided or informative visit, like we experienced in Pompeii... Overall, nonetheless, it was a great day, and was not a bad value overall...
My only suggestion for those considering taking the Vesuvius portion of this tour is either hire the vucanologist at the crater to get at least some information and explanations, or be content with a solitary but admittedly beautifully scenic walk onto the mountain...

Mount Vesuvius and Naples Trip was Super Great! A tour is always extra special when your tour guide is someone as awesome as Andrei! He is very funny, full of information, kept everything very interesting, was genuinely caring and made sure everyone in the tour had a great time, even my wife who was not able to climb to Mount Vesuvius, he spent time with her made sure she is fine while we made the trip to the top of the Volcano. It is very interesting and the lunch was also great!!! A highly recommended tour and hopefully you get to have Andrei as your guide, he is the best!

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Vesuvius was a little under whelming. The volcano itself and tour is a simple climb up the crater along with shops.
Pompeii was spectacular and our guide was outstanding.
The food was probably the best pizza we had in Italy.

Doing what: Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples
Our tour leader in Pompeii in the morning was excellent- very comprehensive knowledge of the site and history.
Tour leader around Vesuvius wasn's as good and it also seemed quite rushed. The tour leader also left us before the end of the tour so that they could their train home- wasn't the best but the volcano was amazing so still definitely reccomended- after all, how much do you need a tour leader to walk up a mountain!
