Excellent guide and good driver. Spectacular views and excellent food. Surprisingly, Amalfi was not as interesting as expected. I highly recommend the excursion and the private tour formula
We really enjoyed our trip to the Amalfi Coast. It was gorgeous, and our driver knew all of the best places to stop. Great tour, a highlight of our trip i Italy!
Our private tour with Rosario to Sorrento and Amalfi Coast was so amazing. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel in Naples, my sister and I knew we were in for a perfect ride. He's so polite, opened the doors for us, very kind, and quite good looking. He drove us in this spotless clean Mercedes Benz car and am so happy all windows were clean because i was taking pictures at all angles all the time. He knows his trade--not only is he a good driver (hahaha, good maneuvers on those narrow, winding roads) he also spoke very good English. He gave us many important info relevant to our tour while driving (he could pass for a guide.) We never missed to stop at every important scenic spot for pictorials. He took many good shots of me and my sis with fascinating vistas as our background. He took us to Sorrento, spent some time there, then to the furniture store which i think was fabulous. We had lunch at Da Constantino's on a hill overlooking Positano---what a magnificent view, so epic and the food was really good. Spent time shopping in Positano, made an hour stop in Amalfi, then off to Ravello. The views of the four towns are all breathtaking. Should we make another trip to Amalfi again, we would definitely ask for Rosario, our driver/guide who didn't only show professionalism during the whole trip but also made his clients/tourists feel special. Rosario, you earned this high recommendation from us. You made our tour so memorable and we are so proud of you for doing an excellent job. By the way, where can we send the nice photos we took of you?
This tour was absolutely wonderful. Antonio was our driver and though we did not have an actual guide, per se, he was very knowledgeable and informative of the history at each of the locations we visited. He also provided us with an excellent lunch spot recommendation on the waterside in Amalfi. Overall, i cannot say enough about this tour and the wonderful driver we had.
We had an amazing private tour with our driver Pasquale and guide Juliana. They took us to the great spots of the coast and places to discover real Italian life. We had a great lunch in Amalfi by the water. On our way back, we had an unfortunate flat tire incident. My husband, on his own initiative, helped Pasquale, the driver, to change the flat tire. Unfortunately, Pasquale got some heat from his office, because apparently, the clients are not supposed to help the driver. My husband offered like he would with anybody else. Great tour!!
It wasn't worth the cost. The guide was just OK, but I suppose I got better acess to the towns than if I had taken a small bus. Don't bother with the gardens at Ravello. They are very small. Opt for lunch somewhere in Sorrento or Amalfi. The cliffside reataurant we were taken to had a beautiful view but the food was expensive and not very good. I would opt for a longer visit in Sorrento by train or ferry next time. The coastal road did afford spectacular views, though.
This tour is a must do! Our guide Andre had a great mix of humor and knowledge, and kept us entertained (yes, even the teenagers!) We walked the streets of Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, and stopped at an elegant hillside restaurant for lunch. The views are unbelievable, and the guide made the experience even better.
[Let me first say that the local tour company: "Project Napoli Service" is terrible. We had three tours with them and they were the worst in all of Italy. Avoid if at all possible!] Unless you have a big group this tour is not worth it. Our driver spoke no english and our guide, Maria, was extremely lackadaisical. She told us maybe a dozen or so obvious facts all day. The routine for each town is get there, the guide talks for 3mins, then you get 20-30mins of free time, then you spend 30mins driving to the next town. You NEED to go to the Amalfi Coast, but you DO NOT need to do this tour. Not worth the money.
How nice it was to see Felix again as our driver! Our guide, Maria, was wonderful. She did a great job of showing us the important sites in Sorrento, Amalfi, and Ravello. Maria kept the tour interesting for our 3 teen aged daughters!
Highly recommended. Amalfi Coast is beautiful. The advantage of the private tour was we could spend as much or as little time in each place. Maria our guide was fantastic and our driver Joseph contributed to the great tour. Thank you.
The title of this package should be changed. "Private Tour" should be called Private Driver. Once you buy this package your voucher will specifically say PRIVATE DRIVER (TOUR GUIDE NOT INCLUDED). Of course, your driver is not pure taxi driver, and he/she will have things to say about the towns etc. Our driver was friendly but not super helpful with the history etc. Also we stopped for 1 hour in Sorrento (very touristy), no time in Positano (THE town featured on all travel booklets) due to lack of parking, 30 minutes in Amalfi which we wanted to spend more time in, and 15 minutes in Ravello (the prettiest town in my opinion). So while it was a nice way to get a feel for every town quickly, it was bizarre why the driver insisted that we spend 1 hour in a tourist trap. Also disappointing was lunch, which had a beautiful view but not much to offer on the food front. So overall we basically just hired a car that took us to four towns. I think this trip was over priced and mis-adverstised, and we will be sure to take the train to Amalfi instead of paying for the expensive car ride.
Although this tour provided a beautiful day trip to some of the most amazing sites I have ever seen, I would question whether it was the price my wife and I paid as this is a private tour and cost ~$600. Our driver was a gentleman named Rosario and the tour guide was Maria. Rosario was an absolute delight - sweet, easy going and a very safe driver. Maria was nice enough but we weren’t really thrilled with the experience. We felt rushed through all the cities. We weren’t even able to get any time to really see anything or explore. We literally drove right through Positano and didn’t even stop to see anything. We were very disappointed with the “recommended” restaurant – it was extremely expensive, the food was mediocre, and the service was slow so it took an hour of our already limited day when we could have picked something up to go (better off stopping at a pizza join in Sorrento or Amalfi). Also, it’s scheduled to be an 8 hour trip but you spend nearly an hour just getting to the coast along with the hour long lunch so time in each city is limited with no flexibility to make non-scheduled stops. Although Maria was very knowledgeable and nice, we felt slightly rushed through the experience and felt that we could have utilized our time better.
A wonderful day spent on the Amalfi Coast with Antonio. The high spot was Ravello but Sorrento is dreadful so give it a miss and proceed to Amalfi and Ravello. The restaurant chosen by Antonio was very pricey and apart from the sensational views the pasta was mediocre. We wanted to go to Da Constantino's (Luigi) in the hills above Positano. Antonio worked his socks off to give us a great day and the tour was exceptional value as private tours are very expensive now. Dom
Viatour was very accomodating. As we live near Naples, they picked us up near the airport as we weren't staying at a hotel. The driver was great! very friendly and knew how to beat possible traffic problems that would have eaten up our time. He was also accomodating and allowed us to skip Sorrento and stop in Vietri instead. We usually drive ourselves down the coast, but couldn't this time. This tour stops in all the best places. We've traveled extensively in Italy and the Amalfi Coast remains one of our favorite places in the country for it's exceptional beauty and the astounding views.
Both our guide and driver proved to be excellent. The Amalfi Coast is stunning and the private tour allowed us to utilize our short time quite well. High recommend this spectacular tour.....
