Unquestionably, the first museum stop for most visitors to Naples is and should be the city’s fantastic archaeological museum, which houses most of the statues, frescoes, and mosaics excavated from Pompeii and Herculaneum. That is far from the only museum worth visiting in Naples, however. For a look at the finest collection of Neapolitan paintings in a museum that also includes sculptures from ancient Rome, you’re advised to head up to the Capodimonte Museum.
