We took a train from Florence to Naples for the day to join the Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii day trip. The part of Naples that the train station is in was not that impressive, very dirty and extremely busy. We were so surprised how great the rest of the day was!! Pompeii is nothing less than amazing, the pictures were great, lunch was great and the tour guide was from the area so he was very knowledgable. Mt. Vesuvius was a little more of a hike to the top than I expected but the views are definitely worth it!

Everything went according to plan. Got picked up from hotel on time in a mini bus. Good guide - Andy I think. Driven to Pompeii and given a comfort stop for 10 mins. Excellent and interesting 2.5 hour tour of Pompeii - the guide was brilliant and very informative. Then lunch at a very pleasant pizza restaurant. Then a new minibus to Vesuvius - approx. 20 min drive in the traffic. We were given just over an hour to climb to the top (if we wanted to) and have a look around the crater. Then back on the minibus and delivered back to our hotel. A long day but very good.
Our tour guide was wonderful as we had a difficult start due to public transport strike-had to wait 40mins for 2nd bus to arrive. She was very apologetic and supportive, but it was beyond her control. She handled the group very well as she had to translate in English and French. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour were all displayed during our tour. Our only suggestion would be that it would be easier to hear everything with the use of a michrophone. Very enjoyable tour, thanks.
The trip was as advertised. Delays due to bad traffic were unavoidable, I would have liked a longer tour of Pompeii, more than 2 hours. It felt rushed and there is so much to see there. Everything else was good, bus comfortable, group was small enough, visit to Vesuvius really wonderful.
Our guide in Pompeii was great, charming, informative. Our guide for the trip to Vesuvius was really super, fun, and patient with the stragglers. The climb was a challenge, but totally worth it!
Nice tour - Vesuvius was too short (and guided) for most to do as we had cruise ship customers that had to get back.
Pretty much as described. You'll feel a little pressed for time at each of the sites but this is I think a worthwhile price to pay for the convenience of an organised trip.
This was a great trip. Our pick up from the station went smoothly and our guide was friendly. We did have to wait for another group to arrive before the tour started at Pompeii. This was not explained for some time which was a bit frustrating. However, the tour was fantastic. Our guide was very knowledgeable and obviously loves her job. Lunch was delicious and then we set off for Vesuvius with another guide. She was also very passionate about the location. The walk to the top was great exercise. The fog had set in so we saw nothing but the coffee at the top was much appreciated. On return to Naples our driver did a great job fighting his way through the traffic to drop us off at the Plaza. All over an excellent experience. Thank you.

We took the train ourselves from Rome to Naples as we had a Euro travel pass. We were met next to the station by our guide and driver and met our other group members (12 all together). We were driven comfortably in an air-conditioned van type car to Pompeii. At Pompeii, our guide was very informative and we had a fantastic tour. Our lunch was satisfactory with either a pizza or pasta and a drink. Then we changed guides to take our trip up to Mt Vesuvius. Our tour guide again was full of information. The driver was fantastic and manoveured the van around the tight corners very well. Overall our trip was great.

Excellent, longer day than expected. Tour guide had to speak English and French, and because the majority were French, the few English speaking people felt left out and did not always understand what was going on. Nevertheless, a very interesting day
Great trip, wish the weather had been better in order to view the crater but that sometimes happens
