Step back into the Old South and get a feel for what it might have been like to live on a plantation in the 1800s. Located 6 miles (9.5 kilometers) west of Nashville, the Belle Meade Plantation is a historic plantation mansion whose grounds now function as a museum.

First bought in 1806, and continually expanded throughout the 19th century, the Belle Meade Plantation became world renowned as a first-rate horse breeding establishment. Buyers from around the world flocked to the plantation for its annual yearling sales, hoping to purchase one of their champion thoroughbred horses. A tour of the mansion reveals Belle Meade's rich history and offers insight into the distinct Southern culture of the Antebellum and Reconstruction eras.

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to get on a bus and have an informed guide tell me the history of Nashville. Especially at such an affordable price. Also, to have them come to your hotel and pick you up saves on travel fiasco's. It was so simple and kept my trip relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you!

Before I give my review on the tour I just want to say I highly recommend Viator Tours. My daughter and I were in Europe a couple years ago and we used Viator for all our tours, never a problem. Back to the plantation tour. We had a great day! Our bus driver Lee was wonderful and very informative. We visited The Hermitage and Belle Meade. The Hermitage had a guide on each floor to explain the significance of each room. Belle Meade had a guide go through the house with us. She was great. We stopped in between the plantations for a nice lunch. Only $10.00 for a buffet. Don't forget to try the fried chicken, awesome. Belle Meade has it's own winery so we were able to have samples. You can also purchase the
wine . It was a great 1/2 day tour. Back in Nashville by about 4pm so we had the rest of the day to relax around downtown. Would definitely recommend this tour if you love history.
