3 Days in Nassau: Suggested Itineraries

Capital of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Nassau casts a web of magical appeal for first time and returning visitors alike. Whether it's the beautiful white sand beaches, the multi-game casinos or fascinating pirate relics, there is something to enthrall just about everyone.

Day 1: Tour Nassau

On your first day in Nassau, get acquainted with the charming city through the City & Country Combination Tour which explores the historic downtown area as well as the countryside and includes a Bahamian Lunch. Visit the island’s many forts and former pirate strongholds, the picturesque parliament square and the Supreme Court. Head over to the Straw Market and buy yourself some interesting handicrafts made of wood carvings and straw. End your day with a visit to Ardastra Gardens, home to over 300 mammals and exotic species including the pink flamingo.

Day 2: Hit the Sea!

On your second day, it’s time for some sun, sea and surf! Depending on what suits your fancy you can choose between a thrilling Powerboat Adventure to the private islands of Exuma and feed endangered iguanas, or brave the deep sea to Snorkel with the Sharks. Alternatively, take an Underwater Sub Adventure or enjoy a pleasant stroll along the scenic Arawak Cay where you can sample some of the island’s most delectable seafood and tongue tingling daiquiris.

Day 3: Play some Games

No trip to Nassau is complete without a visit to the famed Paradise Island Atlantis Resort & Casino. You can take a self guided tour of this sprawling architectural beauty free of charge, get a day pass for the water park or try your luck at the casino. Finish your evening with a buffet dinner cruise aboard The Majestic Lady where you will enjoy a fire show as you bid farewell to Nassau.

Doing what: Exuma Powerboat Adventure

When I looked over options for activities while in the Bahamas, this seemed to have the most activities for the money spent. I would do it again. The ride out to Allen Cay is refreshing, sitting in the front while the boat cruises through the sea. You may want to bring along your own grapes to feed the iguanas. The hosts and guides ensure that everyone who participates in feeding the stingrays is safe and for first timers is patient and helpful in snorkeling. Mona, the bartender, is great and delightful. The guides will keep you laughing and having a good time, that before you want it to end, it will be time to board the boat to return to the Bahamas. Will do it again!

Fantastic trip. We had a great guide, and saw loads of fish and sharks. I'd do it again.

Make sure you buy fish food at their shop - feeding the fish was a hoot.
