Rotterdam is The Netherlands second largest city, this is Europe’s biggest port with modern buildings and a lively contemporary feel. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty of history and that wonderful Dutch café life we love so much.

Being such an important port, Rotterdam was heavily bombed in World War II and many of its historic buildings were destroyed, thus the modern city we see today. To see old Rotterdam head to the neighborhood of Delfshaven alongside the river. This is the area that the pilgrims sailed from when they headed to America in 1620.
