Train Travel in the Netherlands
Traveling by train is a great way to get around The Netherlands. Trains are frequent and reliable if not particularly luxurious. Stations in most towns and cities are centrally located and, not surprisingly, have huge bicycle parking areas and bike hire shops.

There are basically two types of train: the Intercity which runs between major cities often up to four times an hour (for major cities such as Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht), and the Stoptrein which as the name suggests stops frequently at the smaller towns along the way.
