Mumbai (Bombay) may be the home of Bollywood and the epicenter of the Indian film industry, but you don’t have to go there to experience Bollywood. In the modern city of New Delhi, you can catch a flick in a world-class theater or learn some signature Bollywood moves in a dance class. With more and more films being shot in Delhi instead of Mumbai, you may be able to spot some of Bollywood’s biggest celebrities on the job.

The best and easiest way to infuse your Delhi itinerary with a little Bollywood is to spend an afternoon at the movies. Delhi’s theaters will play all the big hits, but unfortunately, they’ll all be in Hindi without English subtitles. Since Bollywood films tend to lean toward the dramatic side, you shouldn’t have trouble figuring out what’s going on even without English. If you’d prefer subtitles, simply rent or buy a Bollywood DVD to watch in your hotel. Most come with options for English or Arabic subtitles.
