3 star rating: Worth doing Review by Anonymous, July 2010
Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

The promo "buy now through Oct.1 and recieve a free entree at Bubba Gump's" was a hassle. We had to go to Greyline for the power pass who had no idea about the promo, then to Bubba Gump's who turned us away and had to contact the company. We were able to get the free meals but with reimbursement in which we had to pay up front. The passes took a long time to work at most places we went to, but all in all saved us a lot of money. Worth doing if you plan to do many different attractions while you are in New Orleans.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

Since the attractions are mostly open 10a-5p, it's extremely difficult to use your Power Pass efficiently without considerable planning. The only advantage is that you would have a tendency to go into an attraction with only an hour of the day left, something you probably wouldn't do if you were buying a ticket. I wouldn't do it again.

The ghost tour we took was boring. The woman doing it just talked about herself and her opinions and not about the ghost stories. The steam boat was nice but we had to pay $10 extra for the food.

I loved having access to all the places but most of them you need a car to drive to get there. They are not within walking or even trolley distance which adds to the cost. I would also say make sure you plan plan plan because a lot of these items overlap in times and if I could do it over again I would not have spent the money on this for my first trip to New Orleans. There is so much to see in and around the French Quarter you really could do these things on your second trip. We did go to the Aquarium which was great! Insectarium I think it was called. That was cool to go into the Butterfly Room with live butterflies flying around. Highly recommend doing the Cooking Class because that was lots of fun and tasty.

Some tours were advertised as included yet did not include transportation. A free lunch was also advertised after purchase yet the restaurant did not honor or know anything about it. I lost one complete day of the pass because of rain and so I think the 3 consecutive days should not be a must.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

This was a great way for us to make sure we got out and saw and do as much as we could do. Some of the tours did not provide transportation, and we were not aware of this, such as the out of town tours to the plantations. We would have been willing to pay the tour operator to go with them, but this was not an option.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

The Power Pass was a great investment and addition to our visit. We saw and toured many more attractions than we would have without it in New Orleans. I kept track of the amount we saved by using the pass and it was 100. The important part is to plan out your days and attractions ahead of time to make the greatest use of it since many attractions overlap on times, and to make sure you can make it from one destination to the next on time. Well worth the money! The only thing to watch for on your credit card bill is a foreign transaction fee. When I called and questioned this since there were "no hidden fees", they said they would credit me the amount since I booked it in American currency. If booking overseas, there is a transaction fee to be aware of which was 20.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

I truly enjoyed New Orleans. Using the pass was cost effective, but it forces you to rush the whole time since it only lasts a certain amount of days and to get your money's worth you have to book 2 tours per day plus an evening tour. We missed so many of the houses and historical things because the tour times overlapped. The ghost and spirits tour was the least worthwhile because it was just a glorified evening city tour. Not very exciting at all. The New Orleans cooking school was the most interesting. The meal was excellent.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

This was our 1st trip to NOLA. We had a great time because we had so much to do thanks to the PowerPass. We purchased the 3-day pass. We were able to plan our main sightseeing within those 3 days. We recommend that you plan in order to get the full benefit out of the pass. Make sure you verify the address and the location of the attraction because some of the addresses are not listed which would be helpful and one of the icons on the map was not in the right place. There was one attraction that my wife really wanted to go to, however, after we arrived we found out that it was closed for 2 weeks for renovations. This was not mentioned on the pass. Also, verify the days and hours of operation; some of the venues are not open on certain days and are only during certain hours. One last thing we ran into was that not all of the locations have the machines to read the PowerPass. So, be patient because they will have to manually log the usage of the pass. Other than those few unpleasantries, we had a GREAT time in NOLA. Hopefully, you will too.

Doing what: New Orleans Power Pass™

I would suggest anyone considering using the Power Pass to get the pass at least a day or two before you plan to use it. That way you can plan for its maximum usage. A few of the tours we wanted to take were not offered because of a lack of reservations. Even with these shortcomings I still would suggest getting one.

It was pretty good, but would have been better if the things we wanted to do weren't all piled up as far as time. Also, my children got in free to some things, so we wasted money on my youngest child's pass!

We travel to New Orleans all of the time and the power pass made our trip so much more enjoyable.
