We have just returned from a memorable visit to New York. I purchased the 3 day hop-on hop-off bus pass and it was the best thing we did. Both the downtown and uptown tours were excellent. hampton our tour guide on the downtown tour was extremely knowledgable and very entertaining. I took my Grandson to New York as his 11th birthday present and hampton was very kind to him. The bus pass was so inexpensive and saved us hundreds of dollares overall. Unfortunately although we tried very hard we could not fit everything in this time but hope to return to New York again in the future!!! We would definitely use Viator again and next time would book many more trips on line before we go.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

Excelent!!. We used it a lot. Some of the tour guides we experience were better than others. Some really knew about the area and the history some only gave tips on what to do for cheap in New York and nothing about the architecture or history. We had one woman that was really grunpy, I think ultimately there was a problem witht he bus we all had to depart and go onto a new bus but she was snappy when I asked a polite simple question.

Doing what: New York City Full-Day Guided Coach Tour Including Lunch

A good way to see New York City. Excellent tour guide and bus driver, enjoyable lunch, nice trip around the harbour and to end the day, the views from The Top of the Rock!! Well worth the money.

We booked our tour bus through Viator and found the website easy to use and informative. On arrival we had to collect our tickets from the ticket office which was ok but was not advised that as soon as we collected them that is when our time started so was a little disappointed to have to start tour asap before getting ourselves organised. Tour guides were excellent - some better than others - but all had very good knowledge of New York. We booked the bus for 2 days which was worth every penny and will tell friends and family.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour and Harbor Cruise

This is the best way to see the whole of New York at a cheap rate. The tour is incredibly comprehensive, and you don't miss anything. You can get off at any of the stops and know that another bus will come past every 15 minutes, which is great. The tour operators are visible from all major stops, and you can't get lost. The nighttime tour to Brooklyn is something you absolutely have to do! I paid extra to go to the Statue of Liberty, so the harbour cruise was a bit of a waste. On the whole, I highly recommend it.

Absolutely worth doing! Our guide and bus driver and the staff at the ticket office were so friendly. Our guide had so much knowledge to give, and our driver was excellent. This tour is a must if you are going to New York. We did the tour on our first day, and then we went back to places we wanted to see more of. An excellent tour and would recommend this tour to everyone.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

We had a great time hopping on and hopping off the buses. We did 3 loops over 2 days, seeing much of New York from the top deck even though it was freezing cold. Even the tour guide was relieved when the last few of us went downstairs out of the cold. Very interesting commentary. We even had a ride back to Times Square although the bus was supposed to stop at the port.

Doing what: New York City Full-Day Guided Coach Tour Including Lunch

If you are only in New York for a day, as we were, this trip is a must. The tour guide was thorough and knowledgeable, and the water taxi trip around the Statue of Liberty was excellent - the guide was absolutely fantastic! Ending the tour at Top of The Rock was great; the views were excellent. The only improvement that I would recommend would be a sightseeing bus, either with a glass roof or no roof, as it was sometimes hard to see and get decent pictures from inside the bus. Otherwise, I will recommend this tour to anyone I know going to New York.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

No matter how many times I go to New York for pleasure, I always purchase this tour. I love it! It beats taking public transportation, and there are so many stops where you can get off and on. You just never know what's going to catch your eye and make you want to jump off the bus.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

Being a first time traveller to New York, I was a bit worried about how I was going to get around to all the sites. I decided to book the hop on hop off tour and thought it was amazing. It was really informative and really easy to get around, and when you get off at any of the stops it's never too long before the next bus comes along. The tour guides are friendly and really seem to care about their city.

This bus takes you to a lot of the important places in New York. Easy to access drop-off points in the city. We didn't have a use for a taxi cab other then to the airport pickup and drop-off. This tour with a city pass is even better.

All, apart from 1 tour bus guide, were absolutely fab at talking us through New York. I loved all the anecdotal chitchat. They were very friendly and helpful.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

This was a great way to see New York City and learn about its history. The tour guides were wonderful, and I learned about things I never would have been able to find on my own. The buses were easy to catch and I was able to go back later and visit places I was really interested in. I had very little time in New York, and the tour was a great way to see as much as possible. I would definitely do it again.

I thought it was a great way to see and get around New York City. I didn't appreciate the one bus I went on the tour guide wouldn't let you get off the bus until he put his tip bag up. It made me feel uncomfortable.

Doing what: New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

If you have PLENTY of time then this tour is great. Unfortunately New York traffic and Grayline's efforts to cover so much of the city mean that you waste so much time, it takes forever to get anywhere. By the third day of our pass we gave up as we were running out of time to see things and found much quicker to just walk. On another note we did find that sometimes we would wait for a bus to turn up and they didn't when they were supposed to and then you would get two turn up. On one occasion a rival tour company saw everyone waiting at Battery apart and offered to take us, thank. Goodness as it was freezing standing around.
For the most part commentary is good however on one occasion the guides accent was such that we could not understand him, a bit pointless really. Some Grayline employees were helpful but the guys that hang around in a bunch at Times Square are just wasted space. Very reluctant to help and more interested in talking amongst themselves and eating, not good PR.
