Niagara Falls & Around Highlights
Spanning the Niagara River between Ontario and upper New York, the thundering falls are one of Canada's top tourist destinations, drawing over 14 million people annually. They look good by day and by night, when colorful spotlights flicker across the misty foam. Even in winter, when the flow is partially hidden and the edges freeze solid, the watery extravaganza is undiminished.
There are dozens of taller waterfalls in the world (Niagara ranks 50th in height), but in terms of sheer volume these falls are unbeatable: more than a million bathtubs of water plummet over the edge every second. Or put another way - about 20% of the world's total supply of fresh water flows over these falls each year.
