Omaha Beach

Omaha Beach things to do

Omaha Beach, the historic and most well-known Allied point of landing in Normandy on D-Day, suffered some of the heaviest American casualties of the war.

When taking in the 3.5-mile bluff-laden beach, the desolation is powerful, allowing the mind to flashback to all the books and movies (Saving Private Ryan) that memorialized June 6, 1944. The only hint of what took place during WWII is a memorial marking the site of the first American military cemetery. (Soldiers buried here were moved to another cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer.)
