If you're booking a tour, note that the departure times are approximately when you're leaving the hotel and not when you actually get to Hanauma Bay. We got picked up at a hotel a block and a half down at 7:55AM. Not sure why we couldn't get picked up at our hotel, but we didn't mind walking over. We chose the 8am departure and got picked up promptly and on-time. We then had to go to 4 other stops. It sucked because the first two guests were on-time, but at the third stop, the guests were 20 minutes late. I'm not sure if it was because they were told the wrong time, but we had to circle the block several times before they came out. We got dropped off at the office and got our snorkel equipment. It's nice to be able to get the tour company's equipment instead of at Hanauma Bay. We had a choice of 3 times to get picked up at, which was nice.
The bay itself is alright. They tell you not to step on the reef but it's so hard not to. We came out with a couple scrapes from the shallow parts of the bay.
Bring sunscreen, towels and an underwater camera.
My son and I had a great afternoon of snorlkeling in Hanauma Bay. We saw tons of fish, a sea turtle, and an eel! The folks who handled our equipment were very helpful. I would recommend this tour. FYI - it was windy the day we went and we were happy to have wetsuits.
Hanauma Bay is gorgeous. Though the water was a little cool, I stayed in long enough to see a beautiful variety of fish.
We confirmed 24 hours in advance. They picked us up on time at the Hilton Hawiian Village. The driver was friendly and informative. We were quick at getting fitted into the snorkel gear. The regular gear is just fine. Lot's of extras at the shop. Due to the delays getting into the park I would suggest a later pickup ( which they offered!) Take snacks and water as the concession is at the top of the hill. Fabulous snorkeling for our whole group of 10 ( ages 11 - 65) They easily handled all of us and were very efficient! Great experience with Viator and the Hanauma Bay Snorkel shop! There is no way I would take a bus and try and do it ourselves. The best $20/ person spent our whole vacation! - Rob ( Canada)
Hanauma Bay was beautiful - very nice beach. Unfortunately the day we went the weather wasn't great so the snorkelling wasn't brilliant. We did see a turtle very close to shore.
Loved this snorkelling adventure half-day tour! Everything worked like clockwork - pickup was on time, equipment was excellent, fish were plentiful, Hanauma Bay was beautiful and it was a fabulous sunny day.
Saw the humuhumunukunukuapua'a (state fish of Hawaii)! Parrot fish and many, many others.
Great day! Thanks Viator!
Fantastic tour. Would do this again. The company picked me up on time. Was 1/2 hour drive. Collected equipment and then dropped me off at Hanauma Bay for a lovely day. Picked me up and took me back to my hotel. Friendly staff and great facilities. I had a great time. Note need $7.50 to enter the bay not included in tour.
They picked us up right on time at our hotel. Got to Hanauma Bay with all the gears included. We picked a time to return. Have a great time there. Pricing was good too.
Hanauma Bay is beautiful the earler you get there the better. My rating is 1 star because of the company. They picked up an hour late and they dropped off at the wrong hotel. I asked the bus driver if she was sure this was the correct hotel and she had said "yes we are just in the back parking area". Would not have been a big deal if I was not by myself. Not a company that I will ever do business with again and I do NOT recommend this company.
Loved it!! The tour guide was friendly and informative and the landscape is beautiful! I loved the Byodo temple, the Dole plantation and seeing the Chinaman's hat and Hanauma Bay. Would definitely recommend to those first timers to Hawaii.
Short tour!! Bus was more than 1/2 hour late for pick-up, then on time to get us out of water, so a pretty short snorkel time. Then the bus was late again for the Hanauma Bay pick-up. Other than that, Hanauma Baay was as beautiful as ever, and the sprinkle of rain made it complete. We'll see you next trip. Phil and Kathy Philips
Forced to give 1 star. I would definitely not recommend this vendor for this tour. The shuttle was over 30 minutes late picking us up and starting the tour yet finished almost 30 minutes early. We only made 7 stops including the Dole Plantation, water stop, and lunch. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Besides the obvious, the only thing the guide pointed out along the way were the different schools on the route. A total of 30 minutes at the Dole Plantation didn't afford anyone the opportunity to take the train or visit the maze. With the shuttle being late, we did get to see Hanauma Bay. The guide stated she would make up the stop at Turtle Bay, yet she barely slowed down for everyone to see the turtles on the beach. Again, I would definitely steer clear of this vendor for this tour!
This is a rip off. If you can go to Hanauma Bay, do it on your own. By the time we got picked up and got our rental equipment, we only had about an hour to enjoy the beach and get back to return the equipment. Find your own way here so you can relax and take your time. The people that work here, you can even understand a word they are saying. $5 each for anything you borrow. It's a waste of money and time.
Hanauma Bay is breathtaking. It was my boyfriends' favorite tour of the seven we had this past week. The only minus thing is that the admission price is not included, which is 7.50 per person. Other than that, great tour.
