This was a great tour. We just wished that we had more time at both the Arizona and Pearl Harbor.
We loved the double decker and the tour . The only thing we would have changed was to give a little more time at Pearl Harbor, we felt a little rushed. Overall it was a fun experience and I would recommend it!
Absolutely the best part of our trip. Loved our driver and the tour of Pearl Harbor. Learned a lot about different things on the island also.
We enjoyed everything about this tour. Really an emotional day, especially since we went on 9-11 and my husband was a responder at the Pentagon that day plus his birthday is on Pearl Harbor Day.
Doing what: World War II Pearl Harbor Heroes Adventure Tour
Under-delivered…. Bus driver was ~45 minutes late, and told us we were still "on time" for our tour. I found out later that meant we were still "on time" for the noon movie. However, we were rushed in that we didn't have time to see enough at Pearl Harbor. Even though we started the tour late, we were still expected to finish at the same time. Disappointing….you expect me to be on time, but you're not on time.
Although I've been to Hawaii a few times it was my first trip to Pearl Harbor which was amazing. My only negative comment would be that much more time is needed than the tour allows to really absorb everything there. I noticed people had on headphones and were talking a guided tour at their own pace. You would not have enough time to do this on the tour. Next time back to Hawaii I will definitely go back on my own.
Excellent guide who was friendly and knowledgeable. Since we were early to arrive in the area, he took us to see other parts of the city which were interesting. This tour covered everything to do with Pearl Harbor so we didn't miss a thing. Uncle Leo also knew his history quite well and put his heart and soul into it.
Best part of the trip was Pearl Harbor. Great tour including the Missouri Worst part of the trip was no time at the Punch Bowl. Driver commentary was informative.
Terrific tour. The only thing that would have made it better for us was to have had a little more time in the Pearl Harbor area. We would have looked at the Oklahoma memorial where our bus let us off if we would have realized what it was before we were out of time. Our driver was great. He not only filled us in on historical tidbits and loved pointing out the flora, he did so in a very entertaining manner.
After booking my tour through Viator I contacted the local tour operator to arrange for a pick-up at our hotel in Waikiki. We were instructed to be out in front of the hotel at 9:15 and to look for a green bus. My husband and I waited out front and twice a big green bus went by but never even slowed down (for some reason I was expecting the bus to come to a stop). Because we booked with a specific tour company we expected our bus to have that logo. Instead there was another logo on the side of the bus so we assumed it was not our tour company. After a half hour we contacted the tour company and were told that the bus had been by the hotel twice and "had left the area". All they could offer us was to schedule another tour day. That was not possible as we were leaving for Maui the next day. My husband and I arranged for a taxi ($55) to take us to the Memorial where we met up with our tour guide. The bus driver apologized for the mishap and said she had stopped at the end of our street. She further explained that they are not crazy about tour busses stopping in Honolulu and that you have to practically "tuck and roll" onto and off the bus. The tour itself was okay but I really didn't have to see the Punchbowl or downtown Honolulu as our focus was on Pearl Harbor. I would rather have spent more time at Pearl Harbor. If I had to do it over I would purchase my own tickets to the Arizona ahead of time and take public transportation.
Trip started with bus being one hour late.... had very little time at Pearl Harbor. City tour was ok but not great and did not gt off bus for pictures
The Pearl Harbor experience was a great history lesson and helped a person to understand what led up to our involvement in World War II. The Circle Island Day trip was a highlight. Our Bus driver, "Nappy", was very informative and entertaining. We enjoyed the various stops and the good overview of the Island and its offerings. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Oahu.
This is a good tour if you want to go out to the Arizona Memorial and don't have tickets. The tickets from the National Park Service usually need to be purchased 1-2 months in advance as they sell out quickly, and walk-up gate tickets are limited. We saw a few people who were turned away at the Arizona Memorial because they didn't have tickets and none were available.
You might consider the other tour that doesn't include the USS Missouri because there is a lot to see, and it might be nice to not be pressed for time. You might also want to go back to the Arizona Memorial to spend more time at the exhibits and to check out the USS Bowfin (not included in this tour). There is a "headset tour" but you won't have time for it on this tour. The bus tour was Ok as it was nice to see the Punchbowl and points of interest around Pearl Harbor, but they are simply drive-bys. The tour's narration was pretty good.
Try to not take any bags/purses with you to the USS Missouri or the Arizona Memorial as you'll need to check them in before entering. This was a problem for us because our driver told our group where to meet after the Arizona tour, but we missed this because we were checking a bag in. We assumed we would meet at the entrance but discovered we were wrong at the last minute and had to run to get to the right place. My wife tripped and scraped her knees when we ran to catch the bus. Our driver had said he'd leave without us if we weren't there when he was leaving (it was clear he wasn't joking), so we were in a panic.
The tour will also go until nearly 3PM even though the description suggests it will end at 1PM. Make sure you plan accordingly. The driver will tell you this before he departs on the tour (which is too late!).
If you plan your trip a couple of months in advance to get your tickets to the Arizona Memorial, you don't need this tour. Otherwise, it's a pretty good deal to get to see these sites even though you can be pressed a little for time.
Pearl Harbor is definitely a historical destination with much history to offer. The tour bus arrived at our hotel promptly, but after driving around a few blocks to pick up several other passengers, we all had to transfer to another bus. Also, when purchasing this tour I was aware that the price included entrance fees to the various museums, however, it was not a guided tour as the bus driver did not accompany us at all. Rather, we were give head sets or handed off to the tour guides provided by the National Park Service. Therefore, I believe that the price of the tour is very high for a taxi service that buys you tickets at your expense.

Could have been completed in a shorter time. Bus took us out to Pearl Harbor to see if the queues were small...they weren't so we drove all the way back to Waikiki and then back to Pearl Harbor again for our allocated time.
