Doing what: Private Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa

We had a very interesting and informative day touring the mountainous region of Oman. Our tour guide and driver for the day, Rasheed was excellent and extremely courteous. A great day.

Good value - a full day of sight seeing including some nice forts.

Doing what: Muscat City Sightseeing Tour - A Fascinating Capital

It's just a taxi service really. No information, no guide. We were driven around and then dropped at the various sites being given no more information than the name of the building. If you're not looking for a guided tour it's OK.

I was in Muscat for 4 days and three of them i was working, finally i got the chance to take the tour because i did not have to much time and to much money.
Rashid was our guide and he was quite open to answer all of our questions.
The city tour was amazing but the highlight of it was the Grand Mosque.

Doing what: Muscat City Sightseeing Tour - A Fascinating Capital

Ok, but we would have liked to see the older parts of the city. Some of the facts that were given were a bit odd, for example, the carpet in the mosque was Persian. Yes, it was made with Persian fibre, but in the mosque itself by women. The souk was a waste of time, as it was just a cheap market and of no interest. However our guide was polite and well mannered. Doing what: Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa

A brilliand day. Rashid our guide spoke excellent english and took us to places not on the itinerary and had many interesting stories to tell. Yes we could have driven and found the forts by ourselves but would have missed so much.

A very good tour for the first time vistor to Muscat. We saw most of the main sites and really gained a feel for the layout of the city and confidence to go around later by ourselves. We booked a group tour but there was just us and our really excellent guide Rashid.

1 star rating: I do not recommend this Review by Geoff S, April 2012
Doing what:

Poor from start to finish. Driver late picking up from hotel, driving like maniac to fort. Dunes really not worth the 2 hour drive, as when you get to summit it feels like you're on a rubbish tip. Whilst on the summit the driver told us that the drive to the `red dunes' is much more worthwhile. Not even worth one star but couldn't complete survey without giving it a rating!! Very disappointing.

Doing what: Private Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa

This is the third time I've done the tour and I can;t recommend it highly enough to anyone who wants the real Oman experience.

The guide I had was very knowledgeable and flexible, we ended up spending more time in the mosque than he had intended. It is a great and economical way to see the city, especially considering taxi costs. I would definitely recommend it.

Doing what: Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa

For our tour, there was only my mum and me, so it felt very personal indeed. Our guide was great, offered interesting knowledge of surrounding areas and was very friendly. We both enjoyed getting out and seeing different parts of Oman and enjoying the Omani hospitality of receiving Coffee and dates after a tour. Would highly recommend this tour.

Doing what: Muscat City Sightseeing Tour - A Fascinating Capital

I had a lovely tour guide who took me around Muscat. The capital is tiny and only takes few hours to view, but the tour covers all the most popular sights.

Doing what: Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa

The actual tour itself was great. the guide Rasheed took great care to give us plenty of time at each stop and unlike other tours I have done in the past he gave just the right amount of information. He was courteous a helpful at all times.

However the administration behind the tour was terrible. We arrived from a Royal Carribean cruise the day before. I tried calling the local tour operator from the ship (by phone)but had great difficulty getting through. I tried all 3 numbers provided. It just rang and rang.Once I spoke to a girl but was cut off. Eventailly I spoke to someone and agreed a pick up at 8am outside the port next day. I then was told by the cruise people that tI neede to take a shuttle bus to get to the port exit, the earlies shuttle bus from the boat to the port exit was 8 oclcok. I tried rining the local operaotr bck but could not get connected. I emailed yourselves to contact them in fear that if (as it seemed very lieklely) we would not arrive at the port entrance until 8.10 could the driver wait. We eventually give up trying to contact the local firm and had to just hope the drivcer would wait. It would have been helpful when talking (during the one call we got through when we agreed the time of pick up) if the person had assured us that they were already aware the first shuttle bus only left at 8am for the port exit. .
We had a worrying night not knowing for sure if we would be able to do the tour.
Better communication of local arrangements would improve the administration.

An excellent tour and good value for money. The driver/guide, Rashid, was punctual, polite, informative and good company. The tour was comfortable and extremely interesting taking in the Grand Mosque, Muttrah markets and souq and Muscat including the royal palace and museum of Omani life. There was plenty of time to view it all.
