Located at 1400 Broadway Boulevard SE, Polk City, about a 30 minute drive from Orlando, Fantasy of Flight is an interactive museum showcasing the world’s largest private aircraft collection. Along with viewing over 40 vintage planes from all eras of aviation, like the Antonov AN-2, Curtiss Junior and Gee Bee Z, the museum also features adventure rides. Visitors can take a balloon or biplane ride, complete a 40-foot ropes course with 33 challenges or zip-line from 600 feet. Moreover, an array of themed tours are offered, allowing visitors to learn how planes are restored, the physics of flight and view aerial demonstrations of these unique aircrafts. On select dates, visitors can attend “Legends & Legacies: A Symposium Series” which pays tribute to brave American heroes who helped shaped the country’s history and peoples. For example, during Black History month they are bringing in some of the original Tuskegee Airmen to share personal stories of what it was like serving in the military during segregation.
My husband and I are in our 50's and we did this as a day tour. I was very plesantly surprised. The "museum" is huge and extremley well organised and displayed. There are a number of guided tours included in your admission price scheduled throughout the day. The tour guides are very well informed and answered all questions. My husband loved the two warehouses of unrestored planes. I lost him for awhile in there. You were free to wander to your hearts content. It was very easy to spend the day without boredom. I would not recommend this for young kids.
