Hiroshima Tours
On August 6, 1945 a bomb named 'Little Boy' was dropped on Hiroshima, making it the first city in history to be subjected to nuclear warfare. When the dust settled, an estimated 140,000 people had died from the bomb blast and radiation poisoning, and most of the citys buildings were destroyed. Today there is only one bomb-damaged building left from this era, the 'Atomic Bomb Dome', and you can see it at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. In juxtaposition to the sobering history of Hiroshima, the nearby Miyajima Island is a place of tranquility and beauty. Long considered a spiritual center and, in fact, a goddess, the island is home to the Itsukushima Shrine, which is revered for its ancient architectural design that encapsulates traditional Japanese culture and spirit.
A guided tour is a great way to make the most of your time and get the full experience and understanding of Hiroshima and Miyajima Island visitors appreciate the personal stories and cultural information guides provide. Our one-day Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima Island Tour includes transportation, ferry and admissions fees, and an English-speaking guide.
