Although Notre Dame is regarded as a sublime architectural achievement, there are all sorts of minor anomalies, the result of centuries of aesthetic intervention. These include a trio of main entrances that are each shaped differently, and are accompanied by statues that were once coloured to make them more effective as Bible lessons for the masses. The interior is dominated by a 7,800-pipe organ that was restored but has not worked properly since.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour
This was a great walking tour and the view from the top of Notre Dame Cathedral was breath-taking (literally - after all the steps)! Our guide (Macy) was a great source of interesting and entertaining information about Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame Cathedral. Definitely recommended but wear comfortable shoes and get in shape to make that climb - It is worth it!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour
Our Canadian tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the tour of Notre Dame Cathedral. It was obvious he had a passion for the city. He offered many interesting facts and answered questions with intelligent answers. Skipping the line for the bell tower was a must, since it was the length of one side of the cathedral and we've heard it can be a long as a 2 hours wait. The view was amazing and well worth the climb, you'll get great photos from there. This is a good tour to book.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour
what made this an interesting tour was the knowledge of our english speaking guide. the group was no more than 20. the tour consists of walking around the ile, learning about its history and ending at Notre Dame cathedral. for those game enough you can climb the 400+ steps to the bell towers.
Practical Info
It's well worth the effort of climbing the 387 steps of the north tower. This will bring you to the top of the west facade and face to face with many of the cathedral's most frightening gargoyles, which enjoy a spectacular view of Paris.
