Doing what: Mont Saint Michel Day Trip

I worried that this tour would have too lengthy of a bus ride, but it was not. The ride through Normandy was in a nice bus with one 30 minute stop. The tour guide was knowledgable, helpful, and went out of her way to make us comfortable and to answer questions. The tour of the Mont was perfect. The included lunch was mediocre, because the restaurant is not quaint and the food very average. I saw some participants who came on this tour and did not pay for the guide. I felt that they really missed out on her commentary. I was glad that I had bought the guided version. All in all, this is not too long or too hard of a day trip from Paris. Very worth it!

Initially,I was only interested in this tour, so that I could see the D-Day sites and Mont St. Michel. It turned out to be so much more than that. The French country side and Normandy villages that we visited during the tour were charming and interesting, and made us feel that we had experienced much more in France, than just Paris. The guides ( Adrien)were excellent, the hotels were very good, and the itinerary was very well planned and executed. Thank you!

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

Our day in Normandy with Christian as our guide was such a worthwhile experience. From the on time pick up to the drop off at his recommended restaurant back in Paris every aspect in between was efficient, informative and most comfortable. The schedule allowed sufficient time to investigate and absorb in most cases. We would very much have liked more time at the US Museum and cemetary, however. We will recommend as well as use Viatour on our next trip.

An outstanding tour in every respect. Our hotel pick-up was right on time, the driver/ tour guide was excellent and very entertaining. His knowledge of the history of the region and D-Day was very good. Our lunch in Normandy was superb at a beautiful B and B. Our reservation was made at the last minute and we were thrilled with the customer service. I highly recommend this tour from Paris. No trains to take or buses to meet. Hotel pick-up and return was so stress free.

Doing what: Mont Saint Michel Day Trip

My husband and I went on a day trip to Mont St Michel in Normandy from Paris. It was a long day but in a very comfortable coach and we had great guides and a good driver. On the way we stopped at a beautiful village called Fleuri where I took some lovely photos of an old village with gorgeuos gardens. The guide showed us through the monastery and was very informative then we had free time to wander around the village on the island. We also had a lovely lunch at a restaurant overlooking Mont St Michel. This was a very special day for us.

Our trip to Normany was a very memorable experience and we are very glad that we did not pass up the opportunity. The tour of the D-Day sites and U. S. Cemetary is not to be missed. The lovely Normandy countryside was a nice contrast to Paris. Do Not miss this trip. It is a a 3 hour drive each way but interesting drive and does not seem overly long. We did this trip in mid-July, 2012.

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

We opted to spend the extra money and do the small group tour out of Paris .This trip was AMAZING. We were picked up on time from our apartment and driven out to Normandy. the trip took about 2.5 hours with a stop for coffee/pastries/ bathroom on the way. The canola fields were in full bloom and were just beautiful. Our guide, Celine, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The American museum and cemetery were great and very moving emotionally. Not enough time here, but we went so many other places we left with a greater understanding of the undertaking of that day, Lunch was also amazing. The whole day was simply fantastic(in spite of the weather!). Highly recommend.

Enter your review hereHighly recommend the tour. Our guide was very informative between locations with a lot of knowledge about the old history of Normandy such as the Vikings and William the Conqueror.

The tour seems rushed, but that's expected for the time allowed and travelling distance to and from Paris. The museum is great, but you'd need twice as much time there to visit it properly, allocate your time wisely to not miss the end of the museum. The lunch was very nice, but you have no choice in what you get which might be a problem if you're vegetarian or don't like chicken etc. Also only Red Wine or Water was given, I would have liked the option of a soft drink. Visiting the beaches and cemetery is unmissable and our guide offered superb knowledge, time to explore Pointe de Hoc in particular would have been ideal, some of the members of our group were not able to keep up as we passed through there so quickly.

Conclusion: It's a great trip with a good, informative guide. It's rushed, but that's the way it has to be to see everything we did within a day from Paris. 4.5/5

Excellent tour. Picked up at the Hilton Paris Arc Hotel and went to a central departure point in Paris. Took about 3 hours to the Caen Memorial Museum (excellent museum of WWII and Normandy invasion on D Day). Lunch included. Then spent time at Omaha Beach and Juno Beaches. Saw the American Cemetery. Fairly fast paced tour as there was alot to see. Full day tour and left for Paris at 5:30pm with arrival at 9pm. Great trip and the ride was comfortable, Highly recommended if you want to see these historical D Day beaches. Everything on time and tour guide was courteous and helpful.

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

This trip was well worth the money -- it met all of our expectations for a 1-day, personalized trip to Normandy. The tour guide was superb, the vehicle was clean and safe, the lunch at the chateau was outstanding, and the countryside around Normandy was better than we expected. I'd do this trip again. Expect to hit only the highlights of the region, since the battle was so broad and spread-out, it's impossible to cover more than just a few stops in one day. Pickup at our hotel was prompt, and we were back in Paris by 7:00pm, ready for the evening. I strongly recommend the small tour, since it's clear that the big bus riders are more constrained than the small group in many ways. Take this trip, you won't regret it!

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

This was the highlight of my seven days in France. As others have noted, the return drive from Paris was long (taking up about about half of the 12-hour excursion), but well worth it. Normandy is a beautiful region, our French/Italian tour guide's informed commentary on its history extremely helpful, and our ultimate tour of the beaches never to be forgotten. Exceptional lunch, good wine, friendly fellow travellers. All-in-all, a memorable day. Most highly recommended.

This was a wonderful tour and one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel pick up in Paris was very convenient. Our guide, Patricia, was extremely knowledgeable about the events that took place on D-Day. The museum of peace in Caen was fascinating and our only regret is that we didnt have another three hours there. The museum tracks the history leading up to WWII and gives great insight into D Day. Its a great way to start the tour before seeing the individual beaches. Visiting the the Normandy beaches and cemetery was a moving experience and you can still see the effects of the allied bombing. The Pont du Hoc beach mirrored the surface of the moon with craters 20 feet deep 45 feet deep at the time of the bombing scattered along the beaches. The French countryside was also beautifullush with narrow country lane and quaint villages. I highly recommend this tour.

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

It is difficult to see Normandy in a one-day tour from Paris, but if that is your only option as it was for me, I would recommend this tour. The small group size there were 7 of us helps a great deal. Our guide was able to provide a great deal of information. The lunch was absolutely wonderful - the best meal I had in France.

The trip was 12.5 hours and 5 of that was on the road to and from Paris, but that was ok because neither my wife nor I had seen the countryside of northern France. It was beautiful. That gave us 7 hours for the historic sites of Normandy and an out of this world French lunch in a beautiful chateau environment. Our driver guide was knowledgeable, polite, and anticipated our every need. My father landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He survived until his death in 2001, so it was an emotional experience for me to stand on the beach where he stood 65 years and 10 days before. Each site we visited was rich with history. There were seven of us in our van, plus the driver. The experience exceeded our expectations.

Doing what: Normandy D-Day Battlefields and Beaches Day Trip

The trip provides a solid introduction to the Normandy Beach sites, and delivered as advertised, accompanied by a good, informative guide. Keep in mind that as a day trip out of Paris, it's a good three hour drive both ways, and the remaining time is divided across five stops, so the stops indeed feel a bit rushed. That's why I call it an introduction. A good introduction, but an introduction nonetheless. British and Canadian tourists might be a bit disappointed with the emphasis on American troop landing sites.
