If you love butterflies, tropical flowers and interesting insects, this is the place for you. Our boys loved having butterflies land on them while exploring this lush and massive indoor garden. Almost every color and size of butterfly you can imagine is represented here. One of them had to be 2 feet wide ? yikes! The stick insects and praying mantis were a favourite too. Great fun for everyone.

The Butterfly Farm was awesome. Be sure to take one of the guided walks led by members of the staff. The times are posted on the wall near the doors of the restrooms. The Botanic Gardens were a total disappointment. All of the interesting collections are in big cages "to protect them from monkeys and humans," so you can't see anything. The only plants you are allowed see up close and personal are in the "formal garden." They are nothing special and not even very well maintained. Special kudos to Viator's partner in Penang. When we arrived at the cruise port, there was no one there to meet us. A guide from another company kindly called the number on our voucher and eventually told us that the company was sending a driver. It turned out that I had booked the tour for the following day, but I don't think they would even have told me it was my mistake unless I had asked. Except for a longer than expected wait at the cruise terminal, everything went as planned--just a day early.
