Penang is a culturally diverse place with Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and European infuences. Good for no more than about 4 days to see all you need to see, the food is awesome if you eat at the local restaurants and very well priced (low :-)) you can see the British infuence of days gone by with the architecture in the city aswell as the newer areas with high rise buildings and numerous high density living areas..... If you want a smaller city than Kuala Lumpur to experience the Malaysian lifestyle than I recommend Penang highly.
