If it’s the weekend, it’s time to get down to Rottnest Island, Perth locals’ number-one island getaway.
Perfect for family holidays or a relaxing break right on Perth’s doorstep, ‘Rotto’ is ringed by perfect beaches for swimming, fishing, boating and surfing. Cycling is also popular on Rotto, as cars are banned here. Other than whiling away the day on your beach of choice, you can hire a bicycle and take a cycling tour of the island’s heritage buildings.
Visit the Rottnest Museum to learn the history of the island, take a stroll through the old cemetery, or view the offshore reefs on a boat tour. While you’re here, see if you can spot a quokka – they’re incredibly cute, cat-sized marsupials that look a bit like a tiny wallaby.

Doing what: Full-day Rottnest Island Tour including Wildlife Cruise
The trip over to Rotternest Island was great 'great weather'. The 'boot scooting' in the fast boat around the Island was something to remember. The food was absolutely salubrious. The museum and all the other sights were excellent. Your part in the enjoyment was without question well organised.
