Located along the Delaware River side of Philadelphia, Penn's Landing is a waterfront area known for its public events and historic boats. The site gained its spot in American history when it served as the landing spot for William Penn, founder of the Pennsylvania colony, in 1682.
Today the area serves as the site several summertime events in the city. The Great Plaza, a concrete labyrinth located along the Delaware River, is the main public area and is home to most of the shops and restaurants. Festival Pier is a popular venue for outdoor concerts during the summer months.
For those hoping to get more of a taste of Philadelphia's history, you can check out the numerous historic ships moored at Penn's Landing. Among those worth checking out are a World War II-era submarine, a Spanish-American War-era cruiser, and a floating restaurant.

This was wonderful for a first time trip. the walking tour allowed me to go at my own pace and to see a litle more of the city. I also really liked the historical info given in the tours. Most importantly the directions on how to get to the next sight were very user friendly. I would definatley recommend this product and use it again. Thanks Walking Tour!
