Not sure if the train station is included on each tour, but we had time to stop here where our guide explained to us the history of the 24 tile scenes around the station. The train station is considered to be a national heritage site and offers great insights in to the culture of the region.
This winery was the 'Plan B'. I'm not sure what Plan A entailed but I figured this was pretty fantastic for a back up plan. Photograph is from their back porch. We toured this facility and sampled 3-4 of their ports towards the end of the day.
Not what they show in their picture, but very enjoyable! The whole idea of the cruise is to see the landscapes of the valley, and the journey will capture that for you. The massive ship they show isn't accurate, but also it's not at all necessary to enjoy this portion of the trip!
Pedro arranged for us to have a private wine tasting at a Vineyard that was over 100 years old. They still crush the grapes with their feet. We had a great time!
Pedro stopped along the way for us to take this beautiful picture of the Douro Valley, he called the view point and quot;Mira Douro and quot; after we took our pictures he pulled out a bottle of and quot;Ruby and quot; Port wine and we had a toast!
Port tasting at Quinta Do Portal.
