Movie Night in Prague

Prague is an excellent city for spending an affordable evening taking in the proverbial (and literal) dinner and a movie. The city has a profusion of reasonably priced eateries located near (or on the way to) technologically advanced and/or exceedingly atmospheric cinemas. The following combos come highly recommended.

1). Love at Lucerna. The oldest motion picture theatre in all of Europe is located just a short walk from Wenceslas Square in a shopping mall built by former president Vaclav Havel’s grandfather. Located at the entrance to the enormous (and lovely) screening hall is a cozy café and bar decorated in art deco fashion with dark wood and a grand piano whose ivories are typically in the process of being tickled by talented (largely jazz-oriented) musicians.  Get your tickets in the main lobby of the mall and ascend the grand staircase to treat your date to a bracing espresso or savory snack before the film.
