Queenstown Food & Wine

Dining or drinking out in Queenstown, you'll be spoiled for choice with a fantastic mix of modern Pacific cuisine, seafood and local delicacies in sumptuous waterside settings. The adrenaline keeps flowing long after the sun goes down with a hip nightlife in sophisticated bars and clubs Bardeaux, Tardis and Subculture.

Romance and mountain scenery meet superlative food and excellent wine in Gantleys, in a historic stone building set in acres of landscaped gardens. Hidden gem The Bunker offers an exclusive and intimate fine dining experience with a unique atmosphere, log fires, cocktail bar and private dining room. Professional service, fine food made with locally sourced organic ingredients and warm ambience make Tatler a favorite.

Wai Waterfront Restaurant, in a stunning location, has the best oyster menu in the country, delicious local ingredients and an award-winning wine list. The Botswana Butchery offers a magnificent view of Lake Wakatipu and succulent wood-grilled steak.

Pier 19 Restaurant on the beautiful Steamer Wharf waterfront blends contemporary flavors with classics in a "fresh, local" dining experience. On the first floor the Boardwalk is renowned for its Seafood Platters. Lively, affordable and family friendly. Fishbone specializes in seafood with a kids' menu, early opening hours and coloring-in place mats, while the Cow Pizza & Spaghetti House offer magnificent artisanal pizza. The Skyline Gondola Restaurant offers regional delights with spectacular 220 degree panorama vistas.

Take your pick of these great bars for after-dinner drinks, from elegant ambiance at up-market Bardeaux, to winter-cabin warmth in Barup, or super-cool Skybar. If you're in search of late night music and dancing, head underground to Subculture for the lively atmosphere, bands or DJ's on the best sound system in town or enter the Tardis, a long narrow late night bar and club for the ultra-hip alternative dance and drink hangout.
