Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Mainz

It was a great trip. The views were spectacular and there were plenty of castles to see. We stopped at Bacharach and had a very fine lunch. The town was like something out of the 17th century. It was the highlight of my European trip. Very much recommended.

We boarded at Rudesheim (where we had stayed the night before). The boat left at 9:15 AM, and went up the Rhine River to Koblenz arriving a little after 1 pm. We were told there that the return boat to Rudesheim left at 2 pm and would arrive at 8 PM! The ride was 4 hours one way, and then 6 hours back! So, we had to incur the expense of a bus and then a train from Koblenz to Rudesheim. An extra expense that we weren't expecting.
The boat ride was really nice though. Really nice!

I would only suggest that you go part of the way to Koblenz (maybe to Bacharach) and then return from there to your starting point at an earlier hour than 8.

Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Mainz

We used the pass to travel from Mainz to Cologne. It was a cheap and scenic way to get from one place to another. Got the Rhine river cruise, which is magic, with a ride from point A to point B for 30euros. It's an 11 hour journey but worth it.

Driver / tour director was very good. Gave good information about the area, had a great sense of humor, skilled safe driver. Did not appreciate the waitress, wine tasting hostess - overbearing, pushy, rude.
Enjoyed the chair lift ride and time in the village below.
Would have liked more time to explore Rudeshiem.
Boat trip interesting with good information on board. We had a very pleasant day on the Rhine Tour.

We very much enjoyed our Rhine trip, the morning was very cool but could enjoy from inside just fine. We would recommend this to anyone, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. We took the train back to Mainz from Koblenz getting off in a couple small towns on the way.

An excellent day trip from Frankfurt. Our guide spoke english, and was fantastic. Lunch and wine tasting a little rushed and commercial, but that wasnt what we came for. Highly recommended.

Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Mainz

We stayed overnight in Mainz and started our Rhine cruise from there. I would suggest that Viator let those who have booked know the street intersection where one must enter the dock area, as well as providing a bird's eye view map. If we had traveled by bus, instead of by taxi, I have no doubt we would have missed the departure time. However, we had an experienced cabbie, who got us there with a half-hour to spare. Keep in mind, Viator, that lots of your guests have never before done this activity. That said, here is the good part: Boarding was very good, no hassles. Finding a nice view from the boat was easy, there are lots of very good seats from which to view the river and sights, both inside the boat and out on the deck. There were a lot more castles than I thought we would see - many, many nice towns and lots of castles. I was very happy with the rate of speed, the food on board, the announcements of the castles, the crew, the restrooms, the chairs and indoor seats. I would highly recommend this tour. The price is a VERY good value. We saw a lot and had a good time. We disembarked in Koblenz (could have used directions to the rail station) and had a good walk through the town. I am very glad that we chose this Viator tour.

Doing what: Heidelberg and Rhine Valley Day Trip from Frankfurt

This was a fabulous day out with great sights to be seen. Our tour guide, Peter, did a wonderful job of keeping a very large group of very different people together and mostly on time. He had to manage a very demanding group of Canadian "Dance Moms" with their children on a dancing tour to Heidelberg under some kind of control who were often wanting to do their own thing and not be part of the group. They whinged and whined, but it did not get to Peter, or our driver Manfred, who did an amazing job on the Heidelberg part of this trip. The Rhine River cruise was fantastic and the castles rolling by on the banks, with wine fields rising up over the hills, was a beautiful site to see while sipping a glass of white wine, indoors and out of the cold. My only negative about the day was to be aware that this is two half day tours, which means traveling away from and back to the tour office twice in the one day. That doubled the length of time in the bus. Other than that, a memorable day. Thank you Peter and Manfred, it was a great day.

Three disappointments - the boat trip did not actually pass by the Loralee rock, we didn't stop at Rudesheim and the chicken dinner was very very average. Heidelburg was a really lovely place to visit. The guide was very good. KB

Very nice accomadations, the sights were beautiful. If you have all day just to lounge and take in the sites, you will enjoy this tour. My wife and I were a little crunched for time and had to be somewhere else that day and found it to be nice, but not all that. So, we jumped off and grabbed a train back to Koblenz.

We expected something more interesting and active. We would not pay the amount of money for what we got! The food was not German type, at least not for my husband and I. The waitress does not say the price for the wine and try to sell the most expensive which is an ice wine and promotes it like a regular wine at the beginning of you dinner experience and it should be for dessert! The wine tasting is to sell you expensive bottles like is something very exclusive and unique!
