Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Mainz
Our Rhine cruise on the K-D Lorelei boat departed Mainz at 8:45 am . Our voucher had to be exchanged for tickets at the ticket office-which was at the boat dock.
We cruised from Mainz to Koblenz--where the Rhine and Mosel Rivers meet (arrival 2pm).
Visited the Ludwig Museum and the King Wilhelm statue--We returned to Mainz by train-arrival around 4:30pm.
The cruise was excellent--There was some English narration of what you were viewing from the boat.
The breakfast on the boat was very good--

We had a wonderful guide who made this trip so enjoyable. He gave us so much great information and had a really good sense of humor to make the trip fun. We also had great weather so that made being on the reiver that much more enjoyable. We also liked the cable car with wonderful views. Lunch was at a cute restaurant and the food tour food but good. The wine tasting was fun with no push to buy anything. We really enjoyed this tour and was glad we went.

Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Koblenz
It was a wonderful experience to see the castles and relax at the same time. However, it was somewhat of boring for my teenage daughter. I just hope that the boat's schedule would have allowed more hop-on/hop-off stops to explore the passing towns. I still would recommend the trip, especially for someone who likes history.

Great tour. Sites were great. Tour guide was a little strict and the stops were a little short, but the tour was entertaining, the Rhine was beautiful, the lunch was great. Highly recommended.

Doing what: KD Rhine Pass from Koblenz
Great Day cruising down the Rhine, we had chosen this option instead of rail to our next destination, Bacharach. Relaxing with plenty of seating to chose from, very panoramic. Recommend this when travelling from Koblenz to next accommodation. All vouchers accepted without question. Booking in advance is a good idea as these trips are very popular.

The cruise was wonderful, but the dinner was below average. For what we paid we were offered chicken with the excuse that due to dietary constraints of other people, they could only serve chicken. We were offered snitzel for 10 euros above what was already paid. We were squeezed into one long table rather than allowing us to sit at separate tables. You could barely move your arms to eat. Additionally, there was a wine tasting afterwards which was not mentioned in the initial tour. While I would recommend the cruise to anyone touring Frankfurt, I would certainly not recommend the dinner.

A well organised, value for money, no surprises day outing. Our guide was well informed and presented the formula with confidence and enthusiasm. The two hours on the boat is what it's all about - and on a fine, early autumn day the scenery was beautiful. Lunch was adequate; we returned by coach to the same venue after the river cruise for a optional wine tasting. From there we were filling time shopping and fighting our way back into the Frankfurt Friday exodus.

I took the cruise by myself since I was traveling solo, so this might be why I found it a little long at 4 hours. Two hours would've been enough. The weather was mostly cloudy and cool, making it cold to be out on deck in the open air and not great lighting for photos Lot of cigarette smokers, as well, which was unpleasant for a non-smoker. Inside in the middle deck would've been nice and cozy if traveling with a partner; try to get near the big section of windows near the bow of the ship.

Doing what: Rhine Valley Trip from Frankfurt including Rhine River Cruise
Our tour was late leaving Frankfurt because the company overbooked and had to find a bigger bus.The river cruise itself was great but for an all day tour we expected to be on the boat for more than 90 minutes. The lunch tasted great but we thought water or coffee should have been provided with the lunch. We could have purchased an entire meal for what we paid for our beverages and dessert. It started to feel like the whole purpose of the boat trip was to get us to buy wine. The focus of our guide was to get us back to the restaurant for wine tasting even though half of the participants opted out of this. We were late heading back to Frankfurt but our guide stopped at another town for 20 minutes for no apparent reason. It was rather tacky of the guide to go up and down the aisle wih a tip jar once we were enroute to Frankfurt. We were under the impression that everyone was to be dropped off at our starting point by the driver started taking people to their individual hotels. This put us back at our hotel over an hour later than we were told. No apologizes were offered for this. Now we understand why the tip jar was passed so early.
