Archaeological Museum of Rhodes

Located in the Old Town of Rhode City, the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is the island’s principal museum, displaying a varied collection of artifacts. Housed in the 15th century Hospital of the Knights, a grand medieval building commissioned by Grand Master de Lastic, the museum is renowned for its collection of significant archaeological findings from the Dodecanese islands.

The museum's permanent collection includes vases, figurines, jewelry and other items from ancient Lalysos and ancient Kamiros; a vast exhibit of Classical, Hellenistic and Roman sculptures; and a series of dramatic Hellenistic period Mosiacs. Other highlights include a number of epitaph plaques from the Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Knights' periods and a Parian marble statue of the Aphrodite of Rhodes which dates back over 2,000 years.
