Comment from Paige
Rio is a stylish city, and its beautiful beaches go in and out of fashion with the whims of the glitterati. Copacabana, the beach for the wealthy and beautiful in the glamorous 1930s and 1940s, and again in the 1970s, had lost its luster in recent years as Ipanema stepped into the spotlight. Thanks to Rio’s recent commitment to urban renewal, however, this fabulous 4km (2.5mi) stretch of white sand and calm azure seas is getting ready for a comeback.
