Rio for Cruise Visitors
With its stunning natural setting and boisterous, engaging culture, Rio de Janeiro is one of the most exciting ports of call available on any cruise itinerary. Getting to know the Marvelous City, as Brazil’s second-largest metropolis is known, takes more than a few hours, but unfortunately, that’s all most cruise passengers get if their cruises don’t start or end in Rio. That said, there are myriad ways cruisers can make the most of their time in Rio, incorporating the city’s famous sites, renowned beaches, and delicious cuisine into a brief, but fulfilling, urban escapade.

Visitors interested in heading up to both Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain in one go can take the half-day tour that hits the city’s highest points while still offering a bit of beach time. History and architecture buffs can take the half-day Rio Walking Tour through downtown and the colonial zone, soaking up the atmosphere of the old tropical port and former capital of the Portuguese Empire.
