Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
The Crypts and Catacombs tour was an awesome experience. We had an excellent guide, Alex, and she was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience memorable. She was also humorous and gave a lot of interesting facts about the places we went to, and went out of her way to talk to us after the tour to see if she could help us with any questions we may have. This tour is great and would highly recommend it to people visiting Rome. A must, must, must!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
Massimo was an enthusiastic guide who kept us entertained with information and juicy facts on this tour of three sites. This is a fantastic tour at this time of the year as the 15C underground temperature in the catacombs was far better than the 40C on the street. While the catacombs were amazing, the church on the tour is something we would have missed without the tour, which would have been a shame. The crypts are something you have to see to believe. 6 rooms in a row, the initial ones just bone decorations, but the later ones have some quite creepy standing robed skeletons. Morbidly fascinating all the same. Very small area to move in and only two people wide along the viewing corridor - not for those who like their personal space respected as tours and the general public shuffle along. The lady at the entrance - taking the voluntary contribution - moves everyone pretty smartly in and out. A really interesting way to spend the afternoon. Massimo also kept repeating the important information about each sight, particularly the dates, to cement them in our minds and keep everything in context. Put this tour on your to do list.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
Having wanted to visit the catacombs for years this trip did not disappoint. Rachel (guide) was informative and amusing. Having suffered a surfeit of ruins/churches etc over the weekend all 3 locations had something unique to see and renewed my enthusiasm. Highlight for me was the Cappuchin crypt, morbidly beautiful. Took the rest of my family back on Monday morning to see it and gave them the tour.! A bargain at a euro to get in. Would definitely recommend this tour as something different - great for your teenage sons too

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
Great tour guides. Enjoyed bus rides with guide describing things as we drove. It was so crowded and noisy in the catacombs that our guide couldn't explain much, except in a couple of places.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
Great tour. Allows you to see things you wouldn't normally see walking around Rome on your own. Tour consists of 3 stops - Catacombs, Church of St. Clementa, and Crypts. Time flies and the sites and neat. Guide was knowledgeable and energetic. We'd highly recommend it.

Our guide's name was Alex and she was awesome. You could really tell she loved her job and she was very knowledgeable. Don't miss this tour! This was my second time to the catacombs but it was so much more detailed. The crypt was...unusual but a must see also. And of course San Clement was amazing too. Loved Alex!!!

Doing what: Catacombs and Roman Countryside Half-Day Walking Tour
Great opportunity to learn the history behind two great churches, the St. John the Lateran Basilica and the Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral as well as the Catacombs of Rome. The tour is well organized and the group leader very knowledgeable.

Our tour guide was fabulous! He was so passionate and shared a bunch of information about the catacombs and crypts. We had a slight delay getting into the first catacomb, but it was a great chance for our tour guide to give us a bit of history about the catacombs, symbolism and more. After the tour was over he even took time to answer extra questions about Rome and gave recommendations of places to eat (dinner and dessert)!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
The reason I booked the tour was to see the Catacombs. I was not disappointed. The other stops were interesting too and the tour guides were great. I do wish I'd done some more research first, though. I think I could have done everything on my own for much cheaper.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
We were on this tour the weekend the Vatican was jam packed for an event so all the spill over tourist crowd was at these sights. Even though we had a skip the line, all the tours were there with something similar, so 3 stars simply because we did a rush job at 2 of the 3 stops.Capuchin Crypt you can easily do on your own (make sure you have a 1 euro coin for entry as this was not noted ahead of time) but the first two I would have not made it to those areas or even known about them. My favorite stop was Church of San Clemente where it was less crowded and you can see the 3 layers of buildings and learn about some of the more forgotten religious beliefs of the time. Domitilla Catacombs were so crowded that we were passed through in one stop and go slow moving line with groups competing for talking time. This would have been a great stop any other day due to less crowds. Guides were knowledgeable and we had two, one for English and one for Italian. The time was shared equally on the bus and then we split up at the stops. This hurt the time as the groups were then also split at the sights by the entry process and delayed the bus. We ended up going 30 minutes late and I thank the guides and driver for not cutting the tour short. My rating is 4 stars because of this but 3.5 more reflects the experience that I had.

I really enjoyed this tour! the meeting spot was very easy to find. metro is literally right next door. During the tour we got around by bus.. quite relaxing but didnt spend all our time in there. I really enjoyed visiting the catacombs! one of my favorites. San Clemente was pretty interesting. And the Capuchin Crypts... Amazing! who would know that a place could be decorated with bones. The only bummer was that we couldnt take any photos but each place sold postcards so it wasnt a complete disappointment. I would definetely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome.

Doing what: Christian Rome Afternoon Tour
We were at the bus by 230 as scheduled. As it turns out the tour starts at 3 but the AC in ths bus was not turned on. When it is 90 degrees this is not acceptable. The catacombs was great but at the St. John Lateran & St. Mary Major - masses were going so we could not go near the altar. As a Catholic, I respec the sanctity of the mass, so the tour should have been scheduled in the morning before the masses. These 2 churches were important to us, Unfortuntely, we were not able to enjoy our visit. I would suggest that for those wanting to do this tour - DO NOT do it on Saturday afternoon. Finally, there were about 20-25 with just ONE tour guide. Too many and two many language English, Spanish, French.

Doing what: Catacombs and Roman Countryside Half-Day Walking Tour
This was a fabulous tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Catacombs were incredible to see, walking on the Roman Road was an experience of a lifetime and seeing the aquaduct system and what is still standing after all these years was amazing. After several days in Rome we appreciated the hop on, hop off bus tour. Highly Recommended Yes !

Incredible! Covered San Clemente, a must for us as well as the Catacombs and Cappuchin crypts. Knowledgeable guide and very helpful. Another great excursion for our seven year old boy who was getting tired of the usual museums and church tours. Highly recommended!
