In Ancient Rome, the Forum was the centre of the Roman Empire. Until the 4th century AD, a thousand years of decisions affecting the future of Europe were made here. When Roman soldiers were out conquering the world in the name of the Emperors, ...

This was exactly the tour we were looking for: behind the scenes access to parts of the colosseum that are not typically on view to other groups! It was phenomenal walking out onto the floor of the colosseum. We had a good 15 minutes there to get oriented and look around and take pics... stunning views from this spot. And the underground chambers were amazing as well. We went with a guide from the colosseum who had to use keys to access the areas we visited... it felt very special! Our viator guide for the day was Elizabetta and she was very organized, friendly and knowledgeable. After our tour at the colosseum she escorted the group to the Roman Forum, which is stunning. It's a massive site so we zipped through this at a decent pace but after the formal tour was complete we had free time to wander... and we stayed an additional two hours to explore. Well worth the price of this tour!

Tour guide Luca Romano is excellent! Very knowledgable, friendly, and funny. This tour was one of my highlights on my recent trip to Rome. You get to visit parts of the Colosseum the average visitor misses out on. The tour itself is a good length about 3 hours. The small size of the tour group is perfect - my specific group included 8 people three couples, me, and the guide. Any more people than that might have slowed things down, as well as made it difficult to hear everyone's questions and answers. Don't forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, and a bottle of water, as there isn't much shade once you head into Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved this tour, very few people are allowed access to the Underground Chambers and Upper Tier at any given time. Our Colosseum guide literally had to unlock gates to grant us access to these special areas and it was an amazing experience. Not only are you allowed onto the arena floor but get to go below it to see where the animals were kept, how the gladiators entered and how the elevators that raised competitors to the area floor were operated. Then you get to head up to the third ring which grants amazing views over the entire Colosseum and they vistas beyond. This tour also takes you through the Roman Forum which was a fantastic experience as well. Both guides, the main tour guide and the Colosseum guide, were very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions. I was also impressed at how intimate the tour felt, even though it was a group of 22 people. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Awesome. Angela was our guide and this three hour tour went by quickly. We started with a tour of the vast Roman Forum. So rich with history including Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony and the six vestigial virgins. The views from the Palentine Hill are amazing.

The Colosseum tour was definitely a high point of our 10 days in Italy. Skipping the line is a must as the crowds are very large. I also recommend seeing the underground chambers as it really adds to the experience and the understanding of how the events were orchestrated back in the day.

Our guide Francesca was amazing! Not only was she engaging she kept the tour interesting and fun. If you want to spend a great 3 hours touring the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palantine Hill book your tour with Francesca, you won't be disappointed.

We met the guides in an oval meeting area above the metro opposite the colosseum and 8:15am, we were organised into groups of 15 with our own headphones and audio sets so that we could clearly hear the guides from a distance if you don't like the hard headphones take your own as it is a three hour tour and they can hurt your ears abit! Our guide was Giovanna but said we could call her Gi or Momma Gi, she was fantastic and really made our tour an experience to remember. Gi made a note of all our names so she could refer to us throughout the tour of the Colosseum, Roman forum and Palatine hill. We were one of the first groups in the Colosseum so it wasn't too busy when we started the tour only when we left. Gi was extremely knowledgable and funny, teaching us about the history of Rome and helping us imagine what everything used to be like with audio descriptions and visual aids in the form of photos and flip books. We loved our tour and would highly recommend it to anyone! Thank you Momma Gi you made this one of the best highlights of our trip to Rome!

I found the Colosseum tour to be absolutely amazing - we had a great host and guide and got to explore all areas of the Colosseum and hear the stories of what happened underground. We then toured the Roman Forum and Palantine Hill - amazing.

Great tour of the Roman Forum, Palestine Hill, and Coliseum. Our tour guide was very informative and made the history interesting. I like ending in the Coliseum so we could see other items there that we didn't see on the tour.

Sara was an amazing guide. So knowledgeable and kind. She went into great detail talking about the Colosseum, showed us what it would have looked like in it's prime and described every single stone we saw in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. I can only sing her praises.

This tour was worth every penny! Private viewing of the underground chambers and upper deck which brought great views of the Roman Forums. We thought the tour was just for the Colosseum but it covered Palatine Hill and the Roman Forums too. Our guide, Dora, was wonderful and gave such great details and answered all our questions. If you love history, you're definitely gonna love this!

Barbara not too sure who to spell her name was an excellent guide, and she imparted such amazing knowledge to us along the entire tour. It was such a pleasant surprise to know that she was an archaeologist as well, which obviously meant that the knowledge that she was giving to us was accurate and in-depth. She provided us with many photo-taking opportunities, and was extremely receptive to questions. I would definitely recommend this tour to any tourists who are looking to obtain a deeper understanding of the history surounding the Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill, and who are not there just for the photos.

This tour was AMAZING! The only way to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum is with a tour guide otherwise you don't really know what you are looking at. We saved a lot of time by skipping the line, and our tour guide, Elenora, was very knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about the site and her city. That kind of attitude makes a big difference in a guide. We learned so much from her that we would have otherwise never have known. As an American, we don't have access to anything like this because our country is so young. I literally got a little choked up just thinking that we were walking the same grounds and buildings that people like Nero and Cesar walked. It was simply amazing. Another great thing about this tour was the headsets that they gave us. We all received a personal headset that allowed us to hear our guide no matter how far we were from her. In the Colosseum, this was especially convenient as it was loud and busy with many tourists as it should be, so it was nice to not have to be right at her side to hear what she was saying. This was a very nice touch. All in all, THANK YOU!

We loved the Colosseum Tour. They meet right outside the Colosseum Metro Stop up some stairs when you leave the station. We spent a long time inside but also got to explore the Roman Forum which was super nice. We did tours back to back as we trained it in from Milan for the day. Do watch your handbags for pick pockets as twice on the metro and once in the Coliseum metro station I had gypsies finger me looking for cash. Thankfully several Italian citizens came to my rescue and hauled them off to the police. Nevertheless these Roman tours were highlights of our trip to Italy. Note: You can refill your water bottles at all the lion head fountains as the water is pure but don't buy bottles from the outdoor venders as it looks like they just refill old water bottles.

Really informative. We had a lovely American girl as our tour guide. Group was small, 6 people. Paid for what we got, skip the lines and also access to underground, on the floor and also third level. No crowds in these areas and a very good experience. Minor wait to get in due to security but cannot recommend tour highly enough. The Roman Forum, whilst not having the crowds was as interesting as the Colleseum. Thumbs up

I booked this tour via viator. The tour around the colosseum is absolutely amazing. The meeting point was just above the metro station close to the colosseum.

My wife and I arrived extra early to have our pictures taken with the colosseum's exterior. Good thing we did so because we didn't have time to take pictures during the tour.

We skipped all of the long lines into the colosseum considering it was quite crowded during that day.

Our lady tour guide who is an archeologist was very knowledgeable as she described to us the historical facts about the colosseum and the gladiators that fought in it.

We started on the ground floor of the colosseum and then went on to the upper levels where there was a view of the entire interior of the colosseum.

After touring the colosseum we proceeded to The Roman Forum where the ruins were situated.
The tour guide slowly discussed and showed to us pictures of what the ruins looked like when the structures were in good condition before.

The ruins were truly amazing. Next up was the palatine hill where our tour ended.

The total duration of the tour was about 3 hrs with a couple of toilet breaks in the middle. Take note to wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking in uneven surfaces, uphill surfaces and a couple of flight of stairs.

Overall I liked this tour.

Tour guide Joana who facilitated the afternoon tour was absolutely amazing. Her sense of humor kept us on our toes. We covered plenty of places such as The Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, The Pantheon among others.

I really enjoyed the afternoon tour.

Fantastic tour and a wealth of knowledge from the guides. Highly recommended but this was a long tour and a lot to take it with a good 1 hour and a half spent in the Roman Forum area. It may be worth checking all the different tours if not looking to stand around listening for any length of time.

Great tour. The location was easy to find, and the people were welcoming. The ability to go to the underground and then to the upper tier is certainly worth it. The information that we got from the tour guide was great as we go a huge appreciation for the size and construction of this great building. The walk around the Roman Forum was also good with the guide picking out lots key bits of information and stories of the time. The kids 9 and 11 got a huge amount of history and knowledge of this great area. Highly recommend.

Great english speaking tour guild, and the information provided was great and new that i had not heard before. From going on a tour 2 years ago with a different company, i would recommend this one to anyone that wanted to see everything there is to see about the Colosseum. I was concerned going into the tour that it was going to be more about the roman forum, but it was equal amounts of time spent at both and constant information provided that i didnt feel the need to even ask questions.
Being able to go under ground was great and having an archaeologist to be able to talk to the group about all the different areas was also amazing. The group wasnt to big so we werent waiting for people to catch up. Great tour. Thank you

I couldn't have imagined doing these sights without a tour guide. Although our group was quite large, 25 people our guide I think she was called Valentina was calm and cheerful at all times. We could always hear her everyone had headphones and she was considerate of everyone. This was a general tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, but covering enough depth for those with more knowledge. She always asked us if we had questions so there was ample opportunity for any enthusiasts. An excellent way to see these sights.

Can't recommend this tour highly enough not only do you get to skip the line but you also get to see many parts of the Colosseum not available if just a regular visitor. Our guide, GianLuigi GG as he liked to be called was very knowledgable and brought the Colosseum to life in front of your eyes. After the Colosseum we also toured the Roman Forum and again his knowledge here meant you really got a feel for how the place was all those centuries ago.

Guide was an archeology student - very knowledgeable and personable. Definitely worth the money to skip the line and the geek in me loved the insight from our student/ guide. Included the Roman Forum. Don't skip it! Afterwards, take the time to tour the palace ruins at the top of Palatine Hill. So glad we did this.

This tour was awesome. covered all the various areas of the colosseum and roman forum. Our tour guide Mariella spelling may be off on her name was a former archaeologist and did a great job getting us a lot of information. The ability to see the roman forum and the full Colosseum was great, and 3.5 hours was about right for both of these - arguably a little more time in the forum and on the Capitoline hill would have been nice, but overall I thought this tour was a good value and a good time.

This tour looked like it might be over priced, in reality it was well worth the money. The meeting place was easy to find, our guild was well informed and spoke excellent English. We were taken behind the scenes to places where the general public cannot go you really do skip the lines, this included a mini tour by an archaeologist and were given a fascinating insight of ancient Rome. We then went on extremely interesting guided walk of the nearby Roman Forum and the amazing Palentine Hill. Although we were linked to the guide by Bluetooth headsets at all time you could wander around and still get the commentary. Be prepared for a 3.5 hour tour, which I must say can be hard on old legs and feet. Apart from that, we had a splendid tour, which has set us up for future visits which we now feel more confident to undertake unguided. Highly Recommended!
