Once again Dark Rome Tours and Walks provides a great experience. Our guide was at our meeting spot just above the Metro stop looking across at the Colosseum. Again our guide was top of the line and again using the radio system and individual headphones so we could each individually hear our guide was clutch! With a brief overview of the exterior of the Colosseum, we were given the keys to the basements. Take the time and go see the Underground Chambers! Even though the shows must have been pretty grusome, seeing how they "changed the stage" with trap doors, pulleys, and ramps must have been amazing. Changing a stage on Broadway has nothing on Ancient Rome. From the underground chambers we worked our way up to the floor and other seating levels until we finally made it up as far as is allowed. The view is extremly picturesque as evidenced from the number of photos I took. From the Colosseum, we went to the Roman Forum. I have often wondered about a funny thing happening on the way to the Forum and with centuries of earth moved away to show even a glimpse of it former glory it makes me laugh at how far we think we have come in building our cities. Again our guide kept all of us engaged in every aspect of how the Forum was and in its current state. As we finally concluded our tour at the Nero Circus the skys opened up with a huge rain storm. Without missing a beat, our guide had a local vendor negotiated down to 3 euros for umbrellas and it was easy sailing from there. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who has a short amout of time to have an overview of Ancient Rome. I am looking forward to seeing it again and will definately use this same tour then go more indepth on a nice sunny day.

This was an amazing tour, the guide Simone was a genuinely nice, informative and funny guide, always making little jokes and giving you funny stories behind the history of Rome, lots of great advice was provided and he was a fountain of all things Roman, you really do skip the queue for the Colosseum which is usually long, and the Roman Forum is beautiful... seriously book this trip today!!

This tour was the best we booked with Viator. It covered just about all the ancient areas of Rome that any person visiting should see. The Roman Forum, Colosseum, Pantheon, Palazza Navona and more. It was ALOT of walking, but our tour guide, Viviana, was very knowledgable - an archeologist by trade!

We would highly recommend this tour to al first time visitors to Rome. We did the upgraded tour that included the lower level and the third level, this was worth it. The views of the Colosseum from the third level gave you a great view of the entire amphitheater. There are many stair in the Colosseum that many seemed to find difficult. The tour of the Roman Forum was very informative, great history lesson.

Are tour guide was wonderful! Her name is Laura. She was the best out of all the tours we had done. Getting to the meeting point was very easy, right above the metro station on the top level. There is a set of stairs to the right when coming thru the turnstyle. The colosseum was beautiful and Laura was very good. She was informative and from Rome and knew it's history. After the Colosseum we than went to the Roman Forum, and than Palentine Hill. I would suggenst maybe getting there an hour or so earlier than the tour begins, just so you can take some pictures beforehand. Beautiful!

My wife and I arrived about 30 minutes early for our tour near Trajan's Column. Since this was our first Viator Tour, we were apprehensive about the initial meeting. Fortunately, Alex was standing there with his blue shirt and clipboard and he "signed us in" for the tour. He told us to come back in 15 minutes. We walked near Trajan's Market and then returned to find Rebecca, our Tour Guide, and the rest of the tour group waiting. After we all introduced ourselves, Rebecca immediately started the tour with a description of Trajan's Column, Roman Forum, Victor Emmanuel Memorial, Capitoline Hill, and Venezia Plazza while walking toward the Cordonata Stairway leading up to the Campidoglio Plaza on Capitoline Hill. After a detailed explanation of the history of Michelangelo's designing of the Plaza and the Museum Buildings, Rebecca took us into the Museum and showed us the masterpieces and explained the highlights and history of each work - with ample time to ask whatever questions we may have. She also showed us the magnificent vistas of the Roman Forum and the rest of Rome from the Museum and the Memorial Building. The tour was an extremely interesting and informative experience, and Rebecca deserves all the excellent reviews and praises she has received on the Viator Website. James S.

Viator and Dark Rome Tours again was spectacular! To see the Colosseum and the Roman Forum up close and without the normal wait in lines was worth every penny. To be able to go into the underground chambers as well as the upper tier made this tour very special! Would highly recommend this tour to everyone!

Miki (Michela) was an outstanding guide through the Roman ruins and their history, and to several famous sites afterwards. She showed the depth of her knowledge answering many questions from our group, made the Colisseum and Roman Forum spring to life so we could see it all as it was. She knew things about Bernini, his father and associates we hadn't heard before. In the Pantheon we again felt history all around us. We took this tour with her the day we arrived in Rome, and thanks to this very special young lady found out why it is called The Eternal City.

Rome was the last city we visited on our All Italian Holiday and Rome did not disappoint. We meet our lovely, vibrant and friendly tour guide in an easy to find location. The minute i saw i just knew it was going to be a good guided tour. The tour guide explained with such passion that you could not help falling in love with Ancient Rome and the Colosseum. We learnt so many interesting facts and were just blown away by the whole experience. Unfortunately it began to rain (thunder and lighting) as we arrived at the Roman Forum. We quickly found shelter and our Guide explained all about the area. Unfortunately we could not complete the tour due to the pouring rain, but being drenched in the rain making our way back to the hotel was great fun for us and created special memories. We would definitely go back to Rome. Viator was so easy to use and really had good deals. I would recommend Viator to anyone.

Francesa was AWESOME! We (couple with 19 year old) toured in 100-degree heat and the time just flew for all of us. We were all captivated by her knowledge of ancient Rome which made the ruins come to life. We need to take this tour again to take in all of the information that she was sharing. It made all the difference between viewing the Roman Forum and saying to ourselves "Rock. Big Rock. Broken Rock." and viewing the Roman Forum as the amazing, real community that it was. We can't recommend Viator or Francesa enough. PS: Love Viator's phone support too!

I would highly recommend this tour.
We took the 2pm tour and although it was unbelievably warm in Rome that day, it was still highly enjoyable. Francessca was our tour guide and she was very passionate about her city and provided a lot of good information. The tour started of in the Collesium and the inside tour of the Collesium was very impressive, the tour continued on then to the Roman Forum and then finished at the Trevi Fountain. The tour did last 3 hours and i enjoyed every minute of it. Would recommend everyone to do this tour during their stay in Rome.

This tour covered the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. We had an amazing guide. Its terrible that I fergot her name. (She was a PhD in Archeology) and so vibrant and warm that it made the trip fantastic and interesting. I know cause I've been to Rome before and this was far better than the last time around.

Our tour guide, Veronica, was outstanding. She was organized, knowledgeable about the subject, and very considerate of the members of her group. We took a tour of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Veronica has a gift for using words to help people form visual images of the buildings, the people and the culture of ancient Rome. We took our tour on a very hot day and I appreciated her sensitivity to the needs of people of varying ages and backgrounds in our group. She is a brilliant archeaologist with a deep passion for Roman history and culture and her enthusiasm is contagious.
