Our guide Valentina was passionate about the coliseum, roman forum and palatine hill. Not only a guide but an archeologist!!!! Everything about our tour was wow, wow, wow. We learnt so much and were overwhelmed.
Excellent tour. A must see in Rome. About half of the tour is in Colosseum, and the rest is in Roman Forum, , House of Vestal Virgins, Via Sacra, the Palatine Hill etc. The tour guide - David, was excellent. We had a great time.
Highly recommend this tour. First, we had a great guide, Elizabetta. She was informative, fun, and concerned that everyone was comfortable. The Colosseum tour is a must. We walked right in and didn't have to wait the long lines just to buy a ticket. Our guide, Elizabetta gave us an enjoyable history background of the colosseum, as well as the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, the Hippodrome, the Vestel Virgins, and circus maximus.
This was a great tour of the Colosseum and Forum area. Our guide Ivana was an archaeology major and provided very interesting insight and information. She presented things in a way that made it enjoyable and not just boring facts. The tour was very comprehensive and I felt like we got to see and learn a lot about the Colosseum as well as the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill area. The group size was perfect and allowed for questions and interaction with the guide. The headsets are a great idea as well since you can hear everything clearly even with so many other groups and people all around. My wife and young adult children really enjoyed this tour and we all agreed we saw and learned so much more than we would have if we had done it on our own! We highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Rome and interested in history!
Brilliant tour. Our guide Mauritzio was really knowledgeable and brought the Roman Forum and the Colosseum to life. The underground chambers and the upper tier vists were well worth the extra cost.
A great tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, our tour guide Alice was very informative and professional. Would use Viator tours again.
This tour was spot on very detailed about the history around Ancient Rome. You actually get to not only see the outside but explore the inside. Although it does not give you access to the undergrounds, the tour was completely worth every dollar and more. The guide was extremley informative, she defintely knew her stuff, espeically since she is also a archeologist. We also explored the Roman Forum. Make sure you bring sunscreen and walking sneakers, light bags, and water bottles. There's water fountains everywhere with safe drinking water. It was surreal to actually explore the Roman Forum and know that we were in a 'Before Christ' setting. So glad we did this!
Just Wow! We joined the group at the meeting place and the day was already warming up. Our tour guide was the lovely Suzanna who was such a good tour guide by pointing out locations of interest with a great knowledge on the subject matter. First we entered the Colosseum through the main doors and left the main tourist area and entered the lower underground chambers. This was just magical and so much cooler! We were treated to a fantastic view of the Colosseum from a very different view and perspective since people used to work below the main floor. We then climbed to stairs to the 3rd Tier (again away from the main tourist trail) and was met again with another fantastic view. Suzanna was always conscience of the sun and always took us to a location to talk in the shade. Then we joined the everyone else around the arena section for a few more photos. We then left the Colosseum and headed for the Roman Forum. Another amazing place, full of Temples, ruined building and pillars. Suzanna even stopped by one of the many water fountains so we could fill up our bottles. We headed up Palatine Hill to be treated with another stadium and view of the Colosseum. This is where the tour ended after about 3 hours. Overall, this is a fabulous tour seeing some slightly different views of the Colloseum and surrounding area. I would highly recommend this tour as the tour guides like Suzanna will explain so much detail which you might miss using the handheld tour devices. Great morning tour!
Extraordinary to have first hand experience of the history surrounding this tour. Difficult to compute the age of the buildings still standing. Tour guide was very knowledgable and able to answer all questions posed. Shame about the thunderstorm which flooded the roman forum and soaked us to the skin literally!
Great tour, very informative plus a bonus of walking all around the ancient Roman Forum.
I would recommend pre-booking prior to the day.The visit took us to areas which would not normally be accessable. Our guides had a great depth of knowledge and were passionate about the subjects of The Colosseum and The Roman Forum. My lasting memory was walking through one of the arches onto the partially constructed arena floor and turning a full 360. It would have been an honour to compete in such a theatre!! Thank you.
Maria's descriptions and interpretations were thorough but not overwhelming. I felt I was seeing the Colosseum and Roman Forum from an art major's perspective!
This was a great tour of not only the Colosseum but the Roman Forum as well. Our guide, Valentina, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We didn't have to wait in line. Highly recommend it!
Unfortunately it was raining on the morning that we took this tour - however this didn't stop us having a fantastic time. Serefina, our tour guide, was able to adapt the tour so that we missed most of the bad weather and when it did stop raining was able to show us the best spots for photo's. Within our group there was a very diverse age range and Serefina was able to keep up all engaged. Not only does the tour give a glimpse into the history of the Colosseum but you also get to visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, which we weren't expecting.
The only downside would be that you have to go at the pace of the tour - so if you wanted longer in the Colosseum you would either need to leave the tour or pay for re-entry.
This tour was split in two. The first half we beat the queues and saw the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The second we saw the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and many other places of interest. Both our tour guides were informative, spoke good English and were also funny which was great. Also a big thank you to our second guide whose advised us to be aware of pick pockets as my husband almost became a victim.
