It was a great tour, the guide was very informative and learned, she has acquired a lot of knowledge as regards the colosseum and the roman forums which she shared with all of us.It was a half day tour but we covered loads of interesting things in this tour, walking inside the colosseum climbing the staircase and walking in the roman forums and climbing the palatine hill was amazing,my wife also loved the tour.
This was a brilliant tour. Our tour guide, Nina, was a qualified archaeologist and her enthusiasm was super throughout the tour. She was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts with us. Nina kept the pace at a steady walk so it was manageable for everyone, especially as there was so much walking! The Roman Forum afterwards was awe inspiring. I would recommend this tour to everyone.
I loved loved loved the walking tour. It was very hot in Rome in Summer, which is to be expected, but it was lovely to see the city by foot. The colosseum is indescribable. Being inside of it can give you chills, not only in its sheer magnitude, but with its links to the past. The colosseum and tour of the Roman Forum brought me to a world I've never known before. Stunning.
The guide, Julia, was clearly very passionate and well educated when it came to the colosseum and roman forum. She made the tour easy to follow and not at all boring. Tour was very well organised and the perfect amount of time was allocated to each area.
Everything was as I hoped it would be.the guide that assisted in the colosseum and took us to the roman forum was the best.I wish I coul d remember her name Is it Francesca. She deserves a lot of praise.
This is a MUST DO tour for anyone visiting Rome...3 1/2 hours long and a lot of walking covering Palentine Hill, Roman Forum and of course the Colosseum. Our guide, Francesca was superb, she spoke excellent english and had great knowledge....she is a history teacher by profession! We were in a group of around 20 people, so not to large and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The restricted access to areas of the Colosseum only open to guided tours is well worth the money in its self... especially up to the upper tier where the views are amazing. You must do this tour if you are planning to visit the Colosseum...just ask all the people who tried to follow us up to the upper tier and were denied access!
This was the best tour I have ever been on, Vince was a inspirational tour guide with outstanding knowledge and very friendly, so much so he told me about the previous days group who when given 30 mins of free time to explore the Colosseum they opted to stay with him and learn more!
The stories you are told are amazing and the best bit is you miss the gift shop!
We then moved in to the roman forum which with Vince was BRILlANT, this is why he is the best at his job at the end he offered to spend time with us for free.
A outstanding tour and a BRILlANT guide ask for this man you won't be disappointed :)
Laura our guide was fantastic, very informative, learnt a lot about Roman History which we would not have picked up on our own. Visited Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Missed the queues and walked straight in with the guide. Easy meeting point.
Excellent. Many inclusions eg. Trevi fountain (although disappointingly closed at present for renovations) Piazza Navona, Piazza Venetzia, Pantheon and the Roman Forum was so interesting.
Doing what: Ancient Rome Half-Day Walking Tour
Our tour around the Colosseum was really interesting - out tour guide Alessandro was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made the trip lots of fun and tailored it to what people wanted to hear more on. I’d really recommend it. Personally, I could have spent longer in the Colosseum and less time walking around the Roman Forum but both are a must if you’re visiting Roma and you really do want to skip the line because it was longggggggggg!
Although it was a miserably hot day, our tour was wonderful. Our guide was an Art History major who loved sharing a lot of her knowledge about Roman history. I loved this! I was so looking forward to the Colliseum tour but truly enjoyed Palantine Hill and the Roman Forum much more. If you choose to book any tour, be sure those two places are included.
Easy to meet guide and the headsets and earphones ensured that the guide could be heard at all times. The guide spoke mostly good English but was difficult to understand at times.
The first hour was spent walking around the outside of the Roman Forum and surrounding area before going to the Colosseum itself. Being able to go into it at night was exciting and being able to go down into the chambers (albeit only a very small section of it) was cool. The atmosphere was eerie and having the place almost to ourselves was fantastic.
I also went around the Colosseum during the day time but the night tour was much better but is rather expensive but definitely worth it if you can.
Doing what: Colosseum and Ancient Rome Tour by Night
This was our first tour of our holiday, and it really exceeded my expectations! The tour company did an excellent job organising us into groups, and our tour guide, Sofie, was really superb. We started off by visiting the ruins of the Roman Forum, followed by Palatine Hill, the ancient birthplace of the city. Sofie imparted so much information I wondered how she remembered it all! The sights we saw were simply amazing, and by having an expert with us, we could actually appreciate what we were looking at far better than if we had simply toured the site by ourselves.
Sofie had told us that, as the Colosseum was being renovated, we wouldn't be able to visit the underground chambers, which was a little bit disappointing. However, when we arrived at the Colosseum and were handed over to one of their guides, we were informed that all of the work on the underground section was now finished, and we would be the first tour group allowed in since it reopened! (I'm usually not that lucky!) While the sound system wasn't quite as good in the Colosseum as it had been in the Forum with the tour guide, it was still quite easy to hear, and the Colosseum guide was clearly passionate about her subject. Walking out onto the arena floor was simply breathtaking, and the underground chambers were fascinating. We were also led up onto the upper tier, where most tourists can't go, and this was equally as incredible - we got a fabulous view not only of the Colosseum, but also of Rome beyond, and as there weren't many tourists up there, it felt a lot less claustrophobic and crowded, and we weren't having to jostle for good photograph positions.
While this tour was quite expensive, it really was worth every penny. There was no waiting around in a never-ending line to get inside the Colosseum, and the access we got was just incredible!
WOW this was a fantastic tour all because of our exceptional tour guide Sev who is a historian and archaeologist and he made this tour the most interesting tour we went on in Europe. He gave us a wonderful insights to the history of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Our children aged 19 and 16 really loved the tour as well. A brilliant tour especially if you get Sev as your tour guide.
It was a HOT day! So just bring water and a hat because there is a ton of walking involved, we started with the Colosseum which was good because then at least there is some shade in there, then headed to the Roman Forum and finally Palatine Hill, our guide, Valentina, was very informative and funny, overall the experience was great, please wear comfortable shoes!
