Our guide's name was Serafina, and she was wonderful. We really enjoyed her explanations of the Roman Forum and Palantine Hill. She also explained that the Roman water fountains around the city contain drinkable water and are free to anyone. This was very helpful on the hot, sunny days!! The Underground Tour of the Colosseum was amazing and very interesting to learn more about that section of the history.
Excellent tour, well worth paying for skipping the line as the queue was long! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. A must for anybody visiting Rome, after all who doesnt want to see the Colosseum! Highly recommended!
An excellent tour with a very good guide. Very hot in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill but water bottles can be filled from a fountain in the Hill. This was an early afternoon tour on a hot May Day 30 degrees C that would have benefitted from the cooler visit to the Colosseum being programmed before that to the outdoor Forum. Thoroughly recommend this small party tour to include the underground chambers and floor of the arena.
This tour is well worth the money, it's 3.5 hours long the guides are amazing and they take you palatine hill and Roman forum first, we had Emma as a guide and she was lovely and funny and knew her stuff.... One word of advice if it's hot take a bottle of water with you, you can refill on the way.
This tour was great! Our small group of 6 got into areas of the Colosseum not normally available to the regular tours- behind locked gates! And the guide, Rachel from LivItaly, was excellent! She then took us through the Roman Forum and up to Palantine hill with spectacular views! It was terrific
Although we were tired because we started with a three-hour tour of the Vatican, our guide made the afternoon even more memorable. We visited many sights in the ancient Roman Forum, then walked to the Colosseum and walked all around there. Our only caveat would be to not try to do this tour on the same day you do another walking tour, because there is a lot, and I mean a lot, of walking. You walk up hills, down hills, visit palaces, travel over uneven surfaces, up three flights of stairs of the Colosseum, all around the Colosseum, and that doesn't mention the several blocks you have to walk from the Forum to the Colosseum. So this is a great tour, but only take it if you can handle a tremendous amount of climbing and walking.
Both tours were of good quality.
The morning tour with guide Claudia covered the Colosseum and Roman Forum and was very enjoyable as Claudia was very knowledgeable about the sights covered and was able to give a lot of detailed insight into their history.
The afternoon tour with guide Francesa was a bit less detailed, but covered many sights and piazzas that we simply wouldn't have seen had we not gone on this tour.
If you're only in Rome for a short time these two tours are a good way to cover a lot of the ancient city centre. My only gripe is that the end location of the morning tour is quite far away from the start of the afternoon tour. Bear in mind that both tours are walking tours - be prepared for a lot of walking!
Alessandro did a wonderful job of holding everyone's interest on this informative tour. The immensity of the coliseum is staggering, yet the Roman forum with all of the background stories is a must-see. Thanks for the bringing magic book, it's a great visual tool.
Words cannot express the wonder and awe of the Colosseum. Fabrizio was our tour guide and he spent four hours providing deep knowledge of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. He was very nice and pleasant, and allowed for lots of questions and photos. He ensured all group members remained together and made everyone feel very welcome. There is no other way to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum, especially if you have little time to spend in Rome. My husband and I would not have learned or seen nearly as much on our own in the same time frame! Excellent tour company and guide!!!
a real passionate guide, she was italian but fluent in english without harsh italian accent, she was extremely knowledgeable because she was an archeologist ! mentioned amazing things about Rome, Colosseum, paletine hills and roman forum and she told us interesting stories about how they did their rituals in these buildings. Try it for SURRREEEE !!!!
Marina was our guide. She was fantastic! She was so informative in a very entertaining way. We loved it! Touring the underground was fascinating and well worth the additional fee. The Roman Forum was beyond expectation. This tour is a must!
Tour guide had expert knowledge about the Colosseum and Roman Forum and was very passionate about ancient Roman history.
Our tour guide, Dario was a great story teller and made the Collosseum and Ancient Roman forums come alive - no boring facts here! Thanks for an entertaining tour Dario.
The tour was amazing! The Roman Forum was so interesting. Francesca did an amazing job with our small group! 5 stars!!!
Doing what: Ancient Rome Half-Day Walking Tour
Despite the weather being miserable the tour guide was enthusiatic and very upbeat keeping the tour in high spirits. The infomation provided was very indepth and i loved the details provided of how the roman forum would have looked in times past
The tour was fabulous! I was not expecting to see the Roman Forum as well so that was a very nice bonus. Highly recommend.
My family w/ 2 kids (13 and 6 y/o) had a wonderful time touring the Colosseum (underground and upper levels) and Roman Forum. Our guide Barbara from Vitality Tours was fabulous. She had both kids mesmerized with stories and historical facts. Though it was expensive, Barbara guiding us was worth it!
Fantastic tour! Our guide was great, friendly, spoke English and very knowledgeable. My partner and I particularly enjoyed the Roman Forum.
Highly recommended. This tour provides an excellent overview of Rome's most famous sights including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain (currently under restoration), and the Pantheon.
This was an awesome tour! It was very exciting to be able to view the underground chambers and learn about what went on during those times. The views from the upper tier were spectacular! Included was a tour of the Roman Forum. There is so much history and was really impressed by the tour guides!
This was a fabulous, informative tour providing great insight and historical perspective of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Since the tour started early, we were able to enter the Colosseum before the general public. Starting with the underground chambers, you got a good feeling of what it was to be a gladiator like all those years ago. Our guide, Roxanne, was born in Rome so was able to provide a lot of details and history of this area. The view from the third tier was just spectacular. Not only of the Colosseum itself but also of the city, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. I loved Roxanne's 'magic book' which showed what you saw standing today plus an overlay of what it probably looked like years ago. It was incredible! Definitely a tour worth taking!
I was luck to have Anjelica as my tour guide. She is extremely knowledgeable on roman history. Doing the VIP tour and early in the morning meant we didn't have to fight the crowds. Besides the Colosseum we also visited the Palatine hill and Roman Forum. A most enjoyable day.
This was a fascinating tour - especially the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Our guide was fantastic. She took some time at the beginning of the tour to learn all our names (there were 16 of us and she referred to personal relevant aspects of most of us as we went round). Very impressed at this. This was an extremely entertaining and educational tour. To see the inside of the Colosseum in reality after having only viewed pictures, mainly of the outside I may say, was a real eye opener and to become aware of the role and importance of the Forum was equally thought provoking. Our afternoon tour took in sites such as the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain (under renovation at this time) the Pantheon and Piazza Navona etc. was also very interesting. One recommendation: do the organised tour if you can as it's far superior to walking round with a guide book with its limited detail. Viator have not given us anything less than well informed and knowledgeable guides and we would thoroughly recommend them, Undoubtedly 10/10.
This tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, the Colosseum, and the surrounding areas. She not only told us about the history of those areas but whats happened to them since, how they've come to such ruins, and what the city is now trying to do to restore them. When you get to the Colosseum your tour guide stays with you but another tour guide (with the keys to the underground chambers and upper tier) takes over the tour. He was fantastic as well. He was able to give you so much detail that you could envision how the Colosseum would have looked back when the gladiators were fighting main stage. Overall we couldn't have been luckier with our tour guides. You could tell they really loved what they did and enjoyed sharing it with other people.
I would recommend these 2 tours. The first tour of the Colosseum was fast paced but very informative. Francesca had a little broken English so it was hard to follow what she was saying sometimes. However, she did know a lot about the Roman Forum. Irene was our second guide and she was awesome.
