Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Roberto and Mike were GREAT tour guides - funny, witty, and wise! Wish we would have started our trip with this tour. The views were breathtaking, and it was great experience. The hike up Vesuvius is a steep one, but worth the climb. The day seemed to fly by, and both guides shared great history and humor, plus the added bonuses of Rome cliff notes - things you should know and sights you shouldn't miss. (And the pop quiz was a lot of fun too!! Go team 5!)

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
We had a week in Rome and wanted to get outside of the city to experience a different side of Italy. This day trip met our expectations and then some. Our guides kept the long bus ride fun and were extremely knowlegable. When we arrived in Pompeii, we were joined by a local guide who was probably more entertaining than factual, though Im sure he could answer any real questions people had. After touring pompeii we stopped for lunch in a restaurant that seems to only cater to tour buses. We had an extremely long wait for our pizzas, causing our schedule to be off for the rest of the day. This was really the only down side and couldnt be helped. The lunch break was great though because that hike up vesuvious was a bit on the tough side. We were given 80 minutes, presumably 30 minutes up, 20 minutes on top and 30 down. Though Im only 29, I have a bad back and needed the full 40 minutes to get up and another 40 to get down. An extra 10 minutes would have been helpful, especially for my husband who would have liked to linger at the crater for a few more minutes. All in all, it was a good day and worth every penny.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
This is a must do tour when in Rome!! One of the best days on my entire Europe trip!
Tour guides were excellent, organisation was excellent.
Pompeii was so incredible, you really have to see to believe. The Mt Vesuvius climb was tough but worth it to say 'been there done that!'

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
A fantastic day out that culminated in a walk to the top of Mount Vesuvius which offered spectacular views of Naples. Diana, our Dark Rome Tours guide, was absolutely first class and looked after us like a mother hen. Our Pompeii guide, Benedicto, was brilliant. Knowledgeable and funny, he really made the morning's visit an enjoyable experience. If you plan to go to Rome, you have to do this tour.

Doing what: Assisi and Orvieto Day Trip from Rome
This daylong tour was a great way to see the countryside as well as the fascinating medieval towns of Assisi and Orvieto. The local guide in Assisi was fabulous and gave an informative history of St Francis' life. The lunch stop was quaint with good food. Perfect way to spend a peaceful day outside of Rome.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
I highly recommend this tour. The meeting place is easy to get to via public transport and easy to find. The coach was incredibly comfortable. Our guides Violet and Sara were very informative, friendly and approachable. They gave us lots of info about Rome and the surrounding areas that we passed during the coach journey. Our guide around Pompeii was again excellent. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. It was a scorching day so well worth taking a water bottle (there are plenty of water fountains in Pompeii for refills). Pompeii itself is just amazing and much bigger than I had imagined. Lunch was lovely. The climb up Vesuvius was a little steeper than I had imagined but easily manageable and the path is very gravelly so open toed shoes are a no-no. The views from there are breathtaking. This really is a 5 star tour. Thank you to everyone involved. You have given us such great memories. Such an amazing experience.

Doing what: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este Half-Day Trip from Rome
We walked to the strting point near the main railway station in Rome and were taken by a small bus (about 12 people I think) to Tivoli outside Rome. It was a scenic trip and Tivoli was lovely- high on a hill overlooking a valley. The first stop was Villa D'Este which has to be seen to be believed. I first saw this place on the TV and had it in my mind to visit one day. The Villa is old and brimming with ancient frescoes and even the original floor is visible through glass. The gardens and fountains are so beautiful it is hard to describe and still the oroginal plumbing is in use. We then went to Villa Adriana or Hadrian's Villa. This is a site of a former city and not a lot left but definitely worth seeing. Unfortunately we were told it may be closed due to lack of interest. Our guide ( an older man who was plugged in at the last minute was really great and so informative. A very busy 4 hours but needs to be seen!

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Being from NY, I was skeptical about all the 5 star ratings, but I assure you, all 5 stars are well deserved!!
We spent 4 days in Rome and then took a 7 night Mediterranean Cruise.....Altlhough the entire trip was amazing, I must say, Pompeii was the highlight.
Our guide Sara was knowledgeable, friendly and really concerned with making sure we all had a great time!
She and the other guide (there were two groups on one bus, then we split up when we got there) provided a lot of information as we made our way on the 3 hour ride. We made a pit stop halfway through and arrived at Pompeii just on time. When we got there, we met the man who would be our tour guide for the ruins. He was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable, passionate and funny! It was a hot day - and very very crowded, but they did a great job of keeping us together and moving in to the shade whenever possible. Just being among the ruins was an incredible experience, but all the information our guide provided really made the city come to life! Afterwards, we went to Mount Vesuvius where we climbed to the top - it was not an easy hike - definitely more difficult than I anticipated - but it was exhilarating and amazing to make it to the top. The included lunch was great - and I slept the entire ride back, but my husband said the followup commentary on the way home was informational and fun.
Be prepared for a long but amazing day!

Doing what: Trastevere and Rome's Jewish Ghetto Half-Day Walking Tour
This walking tour may be the highlight of our 10 days in Italy. It is an amazingly well thought out tour. It covers ancient and modern Rome in its walk. If you are lucky your will get the divine Jeanette as your tour leader. The gal just knows everything that is important and dismisses the unimportant so each minute of the tour is meaningful. The best part was the tour group was only 6 people who she could address by name and engage in the tour. I know I speak for all the tour members when I say we appreciated Jeanette. In fact we took her to dinner in a restaurant she was able to wrangle reservations on a Saturday night. I know everyone needs to see the great sights but these ruins, the ghetto and Trastevere are maybe even more important to get a true picture of Rome.

Good tour, long 3 hr drive there and then another 3 hr drive back to Rome so a very long day. Not enough time to look around Pompeii in my opinion.

Doing what: 3-Day Italy Trip: Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri
This was completely worth the money! We felt so spoiled! The visit to Naples was too short as we were given an hour tour with no personal time. We were told the best pizza, coffee and truffles are from Naples and then lead back on the bus. We ate outside of Pompeii (a small simple meal) and were given another tour around the ancient volcano destroyed tour. Afterwards, those going back to Rome and those continuing to Sorrento are separated and switch buses. Our group was split into 4 hotels. All the hotels were amazing except for one. I stayed at the GRAND Hotel Royal, the others stayed at other Manniello Hotels groups. I did feel bad for the one honeymoon couple as they had the worst hotel and were stuck on top of the town without an ocean view. M hotel was amazing though with buffet breakfast, dinners and an amazing ocean view. We also went to Capri as lunch was handled with a tour of the blue grotto. Our time at AnaCapri was really pressed but still fun. An amazing visit! The last time was a personal day where I took the time to go to Positano by bus. It was beautiful but I am very happy with my decision to stay in Sorrento. I will definitely be doing this tour again and I recommend it to everyone!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica Half-Day Walking Tour
Our guide was terrific and the Friday night tour was really wonderful--crowds were way down at night. Two warnings, though: if you take the Friday night tour, it is very difficult to get a cab at 10:30 on a Friday night--the taxi drivers are switching shifts at that time, so expect to wait or walk to a Metro Station. Secondly, the Enjoy Rome office is not that easy to spot--it is on the corner they specify, but it is a small door that is tucked away, so allow extra time to find it. Have fun! This is a great tour.

Doing what: Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
An excellent 2 part day trip. Firstly, the tour round Pompeii was interesting and informative. Then lunch with authentic Naples Pizza (with salad and drink) was great. The afternoon was trip to Mount Vesuvius which was amazing. The guides were great, keeping us entertained and informed on each leg of the journey including helpful general tips on being a tourist in Rome/Italy. There was also a welcome break at a truck stop to/from Rome for toilet/snacks/drinks etc. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Rome.
