Tuscany and Umbria play a starring role in the legends of Italian cuisine, with rustic trattorias and the vineyards of Chianti. Rome is known for its Trastevere restaurants and the ancient recipes of its Jewish Ghetto area.
Join a food tour to try your hand at creating famous recipes like luscious tiramisu dessert, and pick up food and wine-matching tips from the experts. Visit the Roman countryside, take a foodie walking tour through Rome, or spend time amongst the vines in Chianti.

Doing what: Small-Group Cooking Lesson in Roman Countryside
This was a definite highlight of my time in Rome. Monica was an absolute gem, she is so enthusiastic about food and sharing her experience with tour participants. The location is magical with views over the river valley. The class was a great deal of fun and was hands on. Hand making pasta and local dishes was wonderful. The only drawback was there was too much food!!!! Everyone in the group was replete with good food and good wine and had a well deserved nap on the drive back to Rome. Thank you to Monica and our wonderful driver/kitchen hand for an experience to remember.

Doing what: Rome Food Walking Tour
this was one of the most fun (and informative tours) we've ever taken. We went to a part of Rome we've never been to, known as the 'foodie' part of Rome, and sampled food and wine of many different varieties. Sarah, our guide was amazing. This was not only great fun, but surprisingly educational. I'd do it again.

Doing what: Small-Group Tuscany Wine-Tasting Tour from Florence
My husband and I loved this tour! We happened to be the only persons on the tour, so we had the tour guides all to ourselves. Our primary guide, Matteo, was training a colleague, Gianluca, on how to give the tour. Both of them were funny, polite, knowledgeable about history and wine – just overall really good people to take this trip with. I unfortunately wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t take advantage of the delicious wine and food, though I tasted it and could appreciate the high quality of everything they put out for us. My husband, however, thoroughly enjoyed the meats, cheeses, olive oils, etc., as well as the various wines served. The vineyards are gorgeous and the people there (including the owner at the first vineyard!) were incredibly gracious.
But, really, I can’t overstate how lovely Matteo was in his role as driver and sommelier. And easy on the eyes too! :-)
Definitely recommended for couples and groups of friends. I think it'd even be fun as a party of one. :-)
