Skip the Line tour is the only way to go in the very crowded Vatican. Still overwhelming due to amount of items to see and the large crowds of people in the museums and Vatican even in a small group tour.
Tour guide was local and informative. Best part was we got to skip the line.
Our tour guide Alessandro was great! His passion and knowledge of Roman history and facts was wonderful. We really enjoyed the group and happy to skip the lines and hear about the real Gladiators!

My husband and I loved the Skip The Line, what a great perk. Knowledgeable local tour guide with a passion for Rome and shared memorable, fun facts. She even brought her own before-and-after visual book to show the group. Tip: be ready to walk on uneven surfaces and steps. Overall great experience.

Beautiful experience, extremely knowledgeable guide and was great at answering questions. A little confusing finding the initial check-in office, but overall I recommend this tour. Remember that the entry fee is not included, so be ready to provide payment when you check in. Skip The Line was great.
This tour was awesome, we literally walked past the skip the line lines and went in first thing in the morning. No large crowds, a very informative guide, and great organization. I would highly recommend spending a little extra for this tour and avoiding the enormous crowds!!
Great tour with a very knowledgable tour guide. We went in October, which had smaller crowds, and this was still well worth the investment to skip the lines
Wonderful experience guide first class the money to skip the line was well worth the money a great day out
We went for a morning tour 10:30 based on other reviews as it gets very busy. We were glad we did this as by 9:15 the queue was already round the side of the building but with skip the line we went straight in with the tour. The tour was absolutely fabulous and I'd got as far as to say that this is the best guided tour I have ever been on. This may of course depend on the individual guide but ours was fantastic and first rate! Our guide took as through at a sensible pace and was engaging, informative and entertaining, and took time to explain the history of what we were about to see. We really enjoyed this, thank you!
Great tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable, and guided us through all the art at a pace that was perfect, given all there was to see. If you want to see the Vatican but don't want to spend 5 hours to do it, this is the tour for you. Also, the skip the line was no joke. We went on a Wednesday when the Pope was actually speaking in the square, so by the time we were leaving there was a line that wrapped around the square. Looked like people would be waiting hours to get into the museum and Basillica.
Oct 23, 2015 we toured the Colosseum and is was great. Excellent guides - inside and outside the colosseum, although if you don't know anything except hollywood's version any guide can be excellent, but our guides were very enlightening. This was definitely worth the cost and skip the line is the way to go.
This was a full day at the Vatican on Oct 24, 2015. We had an excellent guide although she occassionaly got stuck in a room as she explain it - her passion of the items was evident. The skip the line is helpful, although everyone got the skip and cause a mass of people - but it was the Vatican and on a Saturday
Our tour guide was very knowledgable and very friendly. In addition, it was a nice bonus to skip the lines and spend the extra time admiring the sights. This was our favorite tour in Rome and I highly recommend it.
the experience with the skip the line was worth every cent our tour guide was a great chap and my Mum and I learnt alot with this tour a huge highlight
Worth it to skip the line, and to get a great history lesson.
Very interesting tour with most knowledgeable guide Doriana. Enjoyed her insights and explanations of the many facets of the Vatican. Skip the line tour early in the day was a perfect choice
this was also one of my favorite tours i have taken 4 viator tours we chose the small group vatican tour and it was worth every penny! not only did we skip the line but the 8am tour was not the usual crowdiness. also our tour guide made the information on all that we saw so interesting and fascinating. of course, the vatican is a must see, and choosing the small group tour was an additional plus. also the headsets were very clear which is also important on these type of tours.
This was a fantastic tour!! Our tour guide Tiffany was amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend booking a small group skip the line tour. We had only 8 people in our group so very easy to stay together and could ask questions. We are never disappointed when we book a tour on Viator.
The Vatican tour was very good, our guide, David, was excellent and certainly new his stuff. Paying the extra to skip the line is worth it.
Tour was great. Georgia was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and pleasant. I'm so glad we did the skip the line tour, as the lines were huge!
This really was a true skip the line tour. At the start there are three levels of queue. Normal queuing which only opens the door at 9 but to get in anytime before lunch you have to be there early. Other group tours skip them at 8 but still have to battle each other and then this one where you walk right by everyone. Being in before most people gave great space. The tour was fantastic and very knowledgeable. A lot of walking 3.5 hours of a tour but worth every second.
Great tour!! It's named correctly as you really skip the lines, especially at the Vatican Museum. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and with great sense of humor. The afternoon part was very organized and to have the bus taking us around, was a very nice touch. We loved it!
Doing what: Skip the Line: Vatican in One Day
This tour was incredible - our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and thank goodness for the skip the line! I highly recommend not waiting in line on your vacation!
We purchased the tickets ahead of time before arriving in Rome. Instead of joining a tour we opted to explore on our own. The Skip the Line pass allowed us to bypass the huge line of visitors that didn't have tickets yet, get in and begin exploring.

I highly recommend doing a tour because the guide really helps you get through the massive crowds and makes sure you maximize your time by pointing out all of the best parts. Unfortunately, there was no skip the line option for going to the top of the dome at St. Peter's. The line was massive and we didn't feel like waiting after all that walking around. If one exists, I would definitely get a skip the line for the top the of the dome.
