This trip was split into 2, the morning was the Salt Mines and the afternoon was the Sound of Music Tour.

Salt Mines
This was a bit of a gimic tour. The coach drove us to Berchestagen first of all and the tour guide showed us a shop that had a map of the Eagles Nest and he explained the site, even though this wasn't a trip to the Eagles Nest. We then went to the salt mines and walked around (with a German speaking guide) and audio guides that were in English for us. It was distracting, as we were desperately trying to listen to the audio but the guide was speaking over the top. Didn't really learn much about the salt mines.
Sound of Music Tour
The coach took us to a couple of places that were used in the Sound of Music. Not a great deal to see, the chapel, a lake, a couple of buildings and the pagoda. We were taken to Mondsee towards the end of the tour which was beautiful and had an hour or so to do what we liked on the island, we were given a suggestion of a pub to go to, couldn't help but feel that the guide was getting paid for the extra custom!!

Some parts of this tour were a little odd, such as lighting up some areas of the mountain side with twinkling lights. Also, two out of five in our group had audio difficulties, like no sound at all. The slides were fun.

the day trip was separete to two parts, salt mines in morning with small group , and joyful! but sound of music is a large group, and little time for sight seeing

The Sound of Music tour was excellent however the salt mine tour was too rushed. The actual tour inside the Salt Mine was good however the tour by your guide/mini bus driver was too rushed. We were rushed into the salt mine, rushed out without a few minutes to look in the shop and were repetedly told to hurry up. Both my wife and I would not recommend the Salt Mine tour because of your guide rushing the trip so much. The guide/mini bus driver was extremely impatient on the road and drive dangerously (unsafe) at times.

For the Salt Mines Day Trip, our guide Walters was very humourous and highly knowledgeable. The salt mines tour itself was good too and we loved the slides.
The Sound of Music tour was also excellent, with the tour guide being highly entertaining as well. In short, this was well worth the money spent!

Tour guides both very informative. Sound of music guide was hilarious!

Fabulous tour! We had some initial difficulties (because Viator didn't disclose the tour-company name, and there were several tour companies providing this 'type' of tour once we arrived to claim our booking), but it all worked out once we managed to communicate that the booking had been through Viator.

the trip to the salt mines was very informative and the journey was very scenic and our mini bus driver Walter was very nice and spoke very good english as there was only 6 on this trip we had really good fun.
the afternoon sound of music tour was very good and both driver and guide (peter)were very jolly and informative.once again viator have not let me down and seem to get better each time i use them.

Great trip, beautiful sight seeings. The Salt mines tour, interesting and fun.

Salt mine day trip was great really interesting and worth doing that was a 5 star. Had no expectations of what we had booked and were very happy.
As for the Sound of Music Tour this was dissappointing to be honest.

Doing what: Bavarian Mountains and Salt-Mines Tour from Salzburg

Tour was good, as i visited in the odd time of the year there were only 1 other family along with me for the tour and we had the privilege for a seperate vehicle , tour guide was informative and helpful, there was no hurry in the tour, salt mines is worth visit visiting in Salzburg it is very exciting for both children and adults

some important points to remember

1. You are not allowed to take photos inside the mines, but there are 3 places where photos are taken automatically at each photo cost 7 euros
2. the guide who comes to inside the mines would only speak only german (because only mine employees are allowed inside and your local guide cannot come with you, you would have hand sets in different languages but not that effective to a person speaking)

Excellent and fun tour! The tour guides really made the trip interesting while giving funny and lively commentary. Even if you are not a fan of the movie we would recommend this tour simply because the movie locations visited are gorgeous and you get to see more the country and mountain side of Salzburg.

Amazing, something different and interesting things to learn.

The trip was great fun, especially the Salt Mines. We were fortunate and the weather held for us. Glück Auf.
