Doing what: Bavarian Mountains and Salt-Mines Tour from Salzburg
The salt mines were a lot of fun. We happened to book this on a day it was raining, This is by far one of the best tours to do while it is raining, as it is indoors. This tour is in Germany which is a short drive from Salzburg so it was nice to experience a day in Germany also.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Austrian Lakes, Mountains and Salt Mines
The salt mines tour was well set up and we enjoyed it. The lakes were lovely and it was a good tour.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Original Sound of Music and Salt Mines Day Trip
This was a lot of fun and the tour guide and driver were good even though the tour guide seemed a bit brusque sometimes, he was helpful and informative. This was very interesting.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Original Sound of Music and Salt Mines Day Trip
The actual tour was great and the guides were amusing and efficient, but the pick up from our hotel was later than they said and it was not explained that the tour would be on 2 separate buses. This did not matter, but we would have liked to have had this explained.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Bavarian Mountains including Eagle's Nest and Salt Mines
Fantastic scenery at Eagles Nest and a good time at the Salt Mines, only complaint was that because we had combined two tours it meant that we went to Bergesgarten. It would have been better to go somewhere different the second time.

Doing what: Bavarian Mountains and Salt-Mines Tour from Salzburg
The trip through the Bavarian alps gave plenty of interesting scenery, but there were no stops for photographs. Trying to snap a photo through a dirty bus window with trees whizzing past is not ideal. Time in the Berchtesgaden village could have been shortened to allow for stops. When I asked if there were any photo stops on the way back the tour guide was quite dismissive in his reply.
The salt mines tour was interesting, but there was no warning about the long down-hill slides or the long stairs down as the alternative. The mine guide spoke at the same time as the hand-held audio-guide and their video monitors are small screen out-dated CRTs - time for some large LCD screens so everyone can see them.
Both the alps and the salt mines were very interesting, unfortunately marred by bad organisation.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Original Sound of Music and Salt Mines Day Trip
Well as some of the other reviews have stated before the sound of music tour is cheesy and our guide tried to be the center of attention by showing us his "acting" skills instead of just giving information. You can reach ALL the sites for yourself using the local transportation and have way more time to explore on your own. Now on the salt mines this was fun and interesting however if you do not speak english you only get so much out of the tour. You are given a hand held audio guide and it was usually just a minute or two info at each stop while our german guige went on for 10-15 minutes at each stop.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Austrian Lakes, Mountains and Salt Mines
Salt mine tour was fun and informative. The Austrian lakes are very scenic and well worth visiting although we did get caught in a torrential downpour at one point- which in itself was a great experience.

Doing what: Salzburg Super Saver: Original Sound of Music and Salt Mines Day Trip
The one company does all these tours and combine buses alot. The super saver is a discount but is really the same as doing two separate tours in the one day to save money. The Saltmines were really fun and interesting. As it was busy the wait at the start meant no time to go to the shop at the end which was a pity. Then we returned to do the sound of music tour. This was also fun. There seemed to be heaps of different places used in the movie and we went to all of them. The church was an hour from Salzburg and was beautiful. The tour guide played music from the film in the bus and made it alot of fun.Even if you are not into the movie you would have to enjoy this tour. A great day out!
