Wonderful! We had a small group of 7, and our guide Hans was Great! When we go back we will prob go again and will request that he be our guide :)
The rain threatened to spoil the day and we wondered what we were in for. Being on the small bus was a distinct advantage for access and for the opportunities to interact with the driver/guide who was a fount of information. We appreciated being picked up at our hotel. A possible value add would be to drop clients back at their hotels. Definitely a must do in Salzburg.
This trip was split into 2, the morning was the Salt Mines and the afternoon was the Sound of Music Tour.
Salt Mines
This was a bit of a gimic tour. The coach drove us to Berchestagen first of all and the tour guide showed us a shop that had a map of the Eagles Nest and he explained the site, even though this wasn't a trip to the Eagles Nest. We then went to the salt mines and walked around (with a German speaking guide) and audio guides that were in English for us. It was distracting, as we were desperately trying to listen to the audio but the guide was speaking over the top. Didn't really learn much about the salt mines.
Sound of Music Tour
The coach took us to a couple of places that were used in the Sound of Music. Not a great deal to see, the chapel, a lake, a couple of buildings and the pagoda. We were taken to Mondsee towards the end of the tour which was beautiful and had an hour or so to do what we liked on the island, we were given a suggestion of a pub to go to, couldn't help but feel that the guide was getting paid for the extra custom!!
the day trip was separete to two parts, salt mines in morning with small group , and joyful! but sound of music is a large group, and little time for sight seeing
Very comprehensive, evocative, and beautiful scenery. Thank you to our guide. And we were lucky with the weather!
The Sound of Music tour was excellent however the salt mine tour was too rushed. The actual tour inside the Salt Mine was good however the tour by your guide/mini bus driver was too rushed. We were rushed into the salt mine, rushed out without a few minutes to look in the shop and were repetedly told to hurry up. Both my wife and I would not recommend the Salt Mine tour because of your guide rushing the trip so much. The guide/mini bus driver was extremely impatient on the road and drive dangerously (unsafe) at times.
Absolutely Fantastic! Naomi is an excellent tour guide who made the whole experience one to be remembered with her excellent humour and knowledge. She catered for every ones needs by pointing out extra info on the town's history. We saw all the sights - breathe taking views etc. There was plenty of time to sit down and have tea- apple strudel and shop. We didn't want the tour to end :). The van was immaculate and very comfortable to be in. Brand Family (kids:15yrs , 13yrs), Sydney Australia
Beautiful locations, stunning scenery and a guide named Peter who was just simply hilarious. We had a fantastic tour, loved it.
We had a wonderful time. The trip was a good amount of time and the guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. He took lots of pictures for us and answered all questions.
