Excellent tour, the volunteers on board were great to to chat with, gave a lot of history. The Unconditional Surrender statue and Bob Hope USO show statues are beautiful, lots of memories.

While we were in San Diego, I decided that I wanted to take my 22 year old son who has Down Syndrome to the Midway. He loves things like that! We arrived early and the parking is right next to the Midway. You pay to park as you arrive and pay according to how long you will be there. I'm not sure how they can tell if you paid for the correct amount of time or not.... When we were able to board, we were given our headsets for the audio tour. My husband talked to someone who suggested that we head straight to the flight deck before it got crowded, which we did. My son loved climbing in the planes and helicopters! Because we had gone up to the flight deck first, he didn't have to wait to get into/on anything which worked well for us! There were 3 other ( active ) aircraft carriers in San DIego at the time so that was neat to see! We headed to the line for the "bridge " tour. We ended up being put with a group of Little Leaguers from the area, but one of the kids' dad was our tour guide. My son didn't get to sit in all the cool captains chairs or any of the fun things associated with the tour because everything was overrun with the Little Leaguers, but he still enjoyed it. There was alot of interesting information. After that, we headed back down to the level we came in on and my son saw the gift shop and that was the end of everything for him! He enjoyed looking at everything for sale and then he was DONE. I was disappointed that we never went on the audio tour or the lower levels, but my son enjoyed what he did and saw and this was for him, so it was what it was.....

Great tour. Audio tour very informative and well set up. The docents we met on the flight deck were former pilots who landed on carriers and their talks were amazingly interesting and informative. Spent four hours and still didn't see it all. But then we like to take our time and see and read everything. Would highly recommend this as a stop in San Diego.

Tour was great as were the tour guides. Brought back memories of operating with the Midway while serving as Aviation Stores Officer aboard the USS Philippine Sea, CVA47 in the mid-50's. Did not get to really complete tour as the 2 elderly women I was escorting were not up to the riggors the tour requires. Still what they were able to partake in was well worth it.
One adult member of our group was not able to come with us due to medical problems. Even though I had paid for her ticket in advance I was told I could get a refund. Because the tour was more than worth the cost I am not applying for it.

This tour was great.. there are sailors on board that will give you additional information about life on the ship. we spent 3 hours and will need to go back again just to get it all in.

An experience you won't forget. I was fortunate to be with 2 Midway veterans (Vietnam, fall of Saigon, 1975). My husband and his best friend who both served on this incredible ship. A must see when in San Diego.
