Where once Italian fisherman in Genoese feluccas trapped unsuspecting sealife, San Francisco has expertly created one of the most popular tourist attractions in America. Fisherman’s Wharf is a bustling waterfront strip, filled with shops, restaurants, and a pirate’s booty of attractions.
Sea lions laze the day away sunbathing and posing for photo ops on Pier 39, where the Aquarium of the Bay, carousel, and carnival-style attractions keep little kids wide-eyed. At Pier 45, the Hyde Street Pier Historic Ships Collection give navel-gazers a chance to check out tall ships, submarines and WWII warships. Bring your quarters to consult the spooky mechanical fortune tellers and save the world from space invaders at Musée Mécanique.
And if it’s raining, head to the Wax Museum and wander among the 250-plus life-like celebrities and former presidents. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, with its kaleidoscope tunnel, video displays, and illusions is also a curiously exciting diversion. Rain or shine, there’s something for kids and adults of all ages.

We couldn't do the advanced tour (it should be better indicated on the site that they won't let you do this tour unless you have already done the other Segway tour with them).
Fortunately we could do the "basic" tour the same day and at the same time. The team is great and very friendly and I would definitely recommend this place for Segway tours.
The tour itself is pretty simple as you don't see that many things, but the ride on the Segway is really fun and you still get to see some of San Fransico streets and the famous Fisherman's Wharf.
Definitely a must-do if you have a couple of hours to spare while in SF.
Found the hop-on hop-off to be very reliable and informative. The buses came regularly and within the timeframe given and visit all the main attractions in San Francisco. The voucher needs to be validated at the main office, just back from Fishermans Wharf, before first use but that was easy to find. The office is very close to a stop, so you can use it straight away. The buses are open top, remember to take a hat and sunscreen..as some people were getting quite sunburnt..however we were prepared for this and did not find it a problem. Having visited here before, this was my first time using this and I highly recommend viewing the attractions by this method. It was a very exhilerating way to visit this wonderful city!!
Continue Reading »Great service, remember to validate your viator voucher at the super sightseeing HQ on Taylor and North Point @ Fishermans Wharf before boarding a bus. The blue service is not as regular as the red buses, but we didn't find this a problem. We did feel the bus should make a stop at Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies as it is on the route and is a popular destination for tourists. I have to make a special mention to one of our tour guides and driver Willie. He was full of information, good humour and songs and even took us on a 'rollercoaster trip' through the Haight. He really made an impression on our holiday!! All in all this is an excellent way to get a feel for the city.

Fisherman’s Wharf is on the city’s northern shore, where Columbus Avenue and the Embarcadero converge, with North Beach to the south. Immediately to the west is Ghirardelli Square, a former chocolate factory that currently houses boutiques, sweet shops, a tea room, and wine tasting rooms. Head west on Bay Street to visit Marina boutiques and the natural wonders of the Presidio. The area is easily accessible via bus and cable cars. Ferries to Alcatraz depart from here, as well.
