Excellent. Muir woods was stunning and the ride up there an experience in itself. We left the tour in Sausalito and came back via the blue and gold ferry which gave us more time for a quiet lunch and to explore the town.
Nice tour. The bus driver that picked us up at the hotel had horrible language but the driver who took us to Muir Woods was very nice and knowledgable. Very nice tour.
This was a great tour and the experience of seeing Coastal Redwoods and Giant Sequoias was superb. The driver was very knowledgeable about the history of Muir Woods and Sausalito and his narration added to the experience greatly. For both Muir Woods and Sausalito you cross the Golden Gate Bridge from San Fransisco which is a tourist thrill in itself. For any travellers worried about the degree of any walking involved, this is entirely at your own discretion. Boardwalk footpaths run through the woods, so you can walk as far or not as you wish and you have about an hour and a half in the woods which we found was plenty of time. Benches and a refreshment and gift shop is also available. The second half of the tour is in Sausalito, where you get about an hour to see small independent artistic shops, cafe's, and boutiques. The bay is always close by for fantastic views across the Sausilito harbour and to watch sea traffic come and go. The tour picks up from city centre hotels in the morning and returns you to the hotel doorstep later, which made the tour easy to access. I can thoroughly recommend this tour and think it provides good value for money.
Muir Woods is an ecological marvel . The giant redwoods are breathtaking and the trqail going through the woods offers many different aspects of the forest.
Sausolito was great and the ferry ride back to Fisherman's wharf offers great views.
A very nice half day trip.
My first trip to San Fran and I was able to see most of the city highlites and learn some of the history behind the different areas of the city. The visit to Sausalito was delightful. Muir Woods is an awesome experience! I was there on their first day of operations after the government shutdown and everyone was so welcoming and eager for us to enjoy our visit!
The tour was fantastic. Muir Woods was beautiful and Sausalito was a nice quick shopping stop. The tour operator/driver was wonderful! So knowledgeable and engaging. He made it so interesting and informative. Alcatraz was simply awesome. I loved the audio tour, it really made you feel like you were in the experience.
My only complaint is that we were expecting a big comfortable coach bus and instead we were taken in one of the smaller shuttle buses. Otherwise a great experience and I would highly recommend it.
Troy and Richard were our tour guides for the day. Troy took us to Sausalito and Marin Headlands. (Unfortunately Muir Woods was closed due to the government shutdown ) the Headlands were beautiful and gave us a chance to see Sequoia...not the redwoods, however they were stunning, Troy was a very knowledgeable tour guide and was able to answer all questions.
Richard took us on the city tour....I don't think there was anything he missed. He was and amazing tour guide we went to twin peaks, chiardelli chocolate, the lake house, the botanical gardens, with tales of different places we passed on the way! He even mentioned O'Shaunessey's!
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see everything and then decide what they would like to investigate further.
This trip was wonderful. One thing to know about this trip is that it is actually two separate events. The Muir Woods and Sausalito trip are a half-day excursion hosted by the tour company. Muir Woods is beautiful and we had a very nice and relaxing walk. Sausalito is a very quaint town, where our lunch was delicious. Our driver, John, was very knowledgable and helpful. After the Muir Woods and Sausalito portion, we were dropped off at the ferry terminal where we caught the Alcatraz ferry operated by the National Parks Service. The ferry times are very specific, so it is important not to miss the scheduled ferry. You need to be there at least 30 minutes before the scheduled ferry time. As a caution, it is helpful to bring bug spray, such as Off, to Alcatraz, as the flies are annoying. The bug spray seemed t help. Alcatraz is very well done and the audio tour is excellent. After the tour the bus picked us up and took us back to the tour company office and then back to our hotel.
Had a fantastic day. I loved the Muir woods and could have stayed there the whole day. I would recommend doing this tour first thing in the morning, by the time we left there were huge groups visiting. Our driver was great and shared lots of interesting facts about San Francisco and Sausalito. The time spend in Sausalito was just enough and the driver gives excellent tips on where to eat. We went to a little Delhi he recommended and it was very yummy. The best thing was he stopped on the way back so we could take pictures of The golden Gate Bridge
This was a very enjoyable trip. Our driver, John, was very informative and gave us lots of interesting background. Muir Woods are absolutely beautiful. In the time you have there, you can't explore too much, but it is still very enjoyable. Sausalito is indeed a very pretty town and we had a nice lunch at a restaurant recommended by our guide. Again, we could happily have spent longer there. The Bay cruise option was also very good. It was very windy on the afternoon we were out, so we pretty much stayed under cover, just popping out to take the odd photo. All in all, this was a very enjoyable day and I would recommend it.
Doing what: Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour plus Bay Cruise
A fantastic experience! We were entertained at the pick up point for our trip by the banter of the friendly tour staff - no delays experienced in setting off for our trip. Our driver provided us all with interesting and amusing commentary at various points in the trip. The Muir Woods itself is a place of peace and tranquility. We were also amazed at the scale of the Red Woods. Sausalito was beautifuly quaint and we all enjoyed the experience of crossing the Golden Gate bridge. The only downside - the half day trip was too short!!!
Our trip was very enjoyable. Wished the trip at Muir Woods was a bit longer, for my cousins from Denmark would have enjoyed visiting with the trees more and I have always enjoyed them. Though I have lived in the Bay Area for 60 years, our guide was extremely informative and told us things that I did not even know. Our visit to Vista Point was especially memorable. Thank you for a great tour.
Doing what: Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour plus Bay Cruise
Great day trip. We crossed the Golden Gate bridge several times which was special and really enjoyed Muir Woods. Worth every penny! There was five of us of all ages and we all agreed it was great.
Out standing trip. Handled the volume of people with ease. Our tour bus driver to Muir woods and Sausilto was outstanding. WE wish we had more time in Sausitlito.
Aaron was a great guide. He was on top of things, any questions were answers and he wasn't bothered by interruptions. He gave us tips at muir woods, about what to see and if we were walkers to get to the hill side once we hit bridge four. When we stopped at Sausalito, he gave lunch suggestions, I probably had the best burger at hamburger. Since we were on time, he took us to see the Golden Gate Bridge. He then took us to Alcatraz and told us if we wanted to stay longer at the piers, how to make it back to our hotels.
