Alcatraz Tours
Just hearing "'Alcatraz," conjures up so many images, from movies to infamous prison escapes (attempts) to triathlons. One of San Francisco's most popular tourist attractions, Alcatraz Island, plopped smack-dab in the middle of San Francisco Bay, was built in 1850 as a military installation and has had many lives since then.
Most visitors are drawn to its shores to peek into its storied past as a federal prison (1934-1963). Along with exploring the remnants of The Rock, its history is told via photos, multimedia and an unforgettable museum.
Alcatraz and Deluxe City Tour
Drive along the bay with photo stops at Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park & Twin Peaks. After seeing the main sights in San Francisco, cruise to Alcatraz Island and take an audio walking tour of the 'Cell Block'.
Alcatraz Golden Gate Bay Cruise
Sit back, relax and enjoy a one hour narrated tour of San Francisco Bay. Sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz and past the city skyline.
Alcatraz, Muir Woods & Sausalito
Stop at Muir Woods where you can roam through a forest of giant redwood trees and stroll the waterfront of Sausalito. Then, take a ferry ride to Alcatraz Island and an audio walking tour of the 'Cell Block'.
San Francisco Dinner Dance Cruise
Grab a cocktail and watch the sun go down before enjoying a 4-course dinner. Then dance to live music or watch the sights drift by from the outdoor decks. Pass by the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island, Tiburon and Sausalito & along the piers to see the city skyline.
Meet the Alcatraz Birdman
During the 29 years it operated as a jail, The Rock was home to a motley crew of inmates. Notorious residents included Al 'Scarface' Capone, the brutal kingpin that had his claws dug into Chicago's underworld in the '20s; George 'Machine Gun' Kelly, a kidnapper and Bonnie and Clyde accomplish, and bank robber Floyd Hamilton.
Robert Stroud, aka the Birdman of Alcatraz, is perhaps the most infamous, thanks to Burt Lancaster's portrayal of him in the 1962 film Birdman of Alcatraz. According to insiders, Stroud was no meek bird lover but a vicious, unrepentant killer.
