Doing what: Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Day Trip from San Jose

Excellent trip overall. Tour guide, Grabine aka Chuchu was very informative. From pick up to drop off, we had a good time. The servings in the prepared lunch plates was a bit small. Could improve on the portions a bit. The dinner was outstanding!!! The buffet was too good!
Highly recommend this tour.

Doing what: Tortuguero National Park

The tour itself was fantastic. We had a wonderful guide, Mario, and a wonderful driver, Binnie, and they made sure that we saw all the animals, scenery and shared information that was of interest. The park was lovely, the boat ride relaxing and we say sloths, crocodiles, a cayman, monkeys and lots of beautiful birds. Great day!

Booking the tour through Viator was frustrating. We booked online and the confirmation told us to call the local carrier, Grayline, to find out what time they would pick us up. We called, gave the confirmation number, and they immediately told us that there was no availability for the day we booked. The tour had to be rearranged to three days later and there was a risk that we wouldn't be able to go since we had planned our schedule based on the Viator availability. Please make sure your website is up to date so people don't end up disappointed.

Doing what: Tortuguero National Park

A MUST-DO if you want to see beautiful scenery, watch animals in their natural habitat, travel up a river to a small village with a beautiful beach and learn a lot about plants, history, animals, the ecosystem and much more. Frequent stops en route, good food and lots of photo ops. Tomas, operator and owner of Jungle Tom Safaris, who is passionate about his work, is probably the best guide anyone can hope for. I highly recommend this tour.

Doing what: Combo Tour - Best of Costa Rica from San Jose

We really enjoyed this trip. It is a great way to see the area around San José and you fit so much into one day. We started off at the coffee estate and to be honest, I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this at first but we really did. It was actually really interesting and the grounds were nice. We had breakfast there overlooking the valley and it was a nice way to start to the morning. This was followed by a trip to Poaz volcano and we were lucky enough to get there on a clear day so had great views. After this we went to La Paz waterfall gardens which was very enjoyable. They buffet lunch there was amazing, we ate so much! The walk around the waterfalls was pleasant and we saw a bit of wildlife. We had enough time in each place, I thought the day was spread out well with a good balance of guided and independent parts and it was just a really good day. I’d definitely recommend it.

Doing what: Tortuguero National Park

Not worth the drive from San Jose for a day trip - road is not paved and bus can be tightly packed/cramped. Boat speeds too quickly to see many animals.

Doing what: Combo Tour - Best of Costa Rica from San Jose

This was the best tour of all. The volcano crater was visible with fumeroles spewing out their steam. There was a great walk about. The La Paz waterfalls with its added attractions and Costa Rican lunch buffet were first class.
A great outing.

Doing what: Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Day Trip from San Jose

Doing what: Sarapiqui Canopy and Rainforest Day Tour

The trip was not quite as described. The Cruise was 1 hr not 2. The canopy was 1 hr not 2. There were no horses to deliver one up to the first station which was only about a 3 meter climb which zipped you to a base from which you walked to a ladder which I was told was 17 metres high - I quit!

Doing what: Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Day Trip from San Jose

This is a long trip from San Jose. We left around 8 and didn't arrive at the hot springs until after 2. We had lunch en route and a stop at Arenal to take some pgo ictures.
I'd advise you to check which Springs you are going to ... I saw the photo of Tabacon Springs and assumed that to be the destination (I'd been to Tabacon and wanted to return) ... but no... I was told I'd only paid to go to Baldi Springs. It cost me another $48 USD to go Tabacon. Tabacon is beaautiful and the buffet superb.
