On March 6th, 2012, our group of four had the pleasure of touring San Juan with Carlos Medina as our private guide. From the moment he met us outside the port terminal to the end of a fun-filled, sightseeing-packed day, Carlos made us feel like welcome and special visitors to his beautiful island. As we watched lines of tourists waiting for their excursion group to depart, we were whisked off in Carlos' luxury van and arrived at the El Yunque Rain Forest before the crowds. The 45 minute trip went by quickly as Carlos told us about Puerto Rico's history and culture and showed us a video of the people and places that make his homeland so special. After an informative tour of the rain forest, we were back in the comfortable van enjoying snacks and cold beverages he provided for us. Back in Old San Juan, he pointed out sites of interest on our way to Fort San Cristobal. He surprised us with a fantastic free show of authentic Puerto Rican dancing performed on the grounds that evening. We could not believe how much we were able to see during our day trip and wished we could stay longer with Carlos as our host, of course! If you are going to Puerto Rico, for several hours or days, we wholeheartedly recommend Carlos Medina, for an authentic Puerto Rican experience!
